Kyle Rittenhouse - The Truth in 11 Minutes

Self-defense to get in your car and drive three or four hours to confront some folks you disagree with ain't nearly so noble as "self-defense," sir.
sure it is. that is exactly what the militia was in the revolution. you had the Minute Men who were locals who would slow down the british long enough for a militia to gather to put up a bigger fight if no state/regular troops were available.

people coming in to protest or loot is no problem, so I am not sure why a group defending against the looting can't also come from elsewhere.

if the government did its job and protected the law abiding citizens they wouldn't be needed. but the government can't be everywhere, and we have seen many cases of selective enforcement where they have been present but chosen not to take action. that is exactly the type of void a "Militia" is going to fill.

True, but it was invoked in this thread to try to give their action in arming themselves and driving hours away as "self-defense" in the tradition of a "militia," which is obviously designed of course to equate what they did to those revolutionary militias that sparked the beginning of the American revolution in the colones. It is similar to the rhetoric of the Tea Party and the invoking of "Second Amendment rights." It intentionally dresses up cheap, inauthentic conduct and cloaks it as equivalent to something more widely recognized as patriotic.
just like saying they were "mostly peaceful protests" in front of a burning building? calling them protesters and not rioters/looters as they actively robbed stores?

I just recoil at use of the word "militia" to describe them because it evokes the memory of something substantive, long lasting, and real.
I am really going to need you to point to a militia that was substantial, or long lasting? like an actual example.

you are using a generic term that applied to dozens, if not hundreds, of separate groups that lasted various lengths of time, and assuming the fact there was militia means that all militias were present throughout the entire war. they simply weren't. There are some notable exceptions that did last for a while, but they aren't nearly as big or consistent as the Patriot is making you think they were.

Any individual or organization or party that thinks that dumb clown is worth a speaking invitation, or deserves any attention at all, deserves to be scorned and mocked. There are a lot of uncivilized morons in America.

So he was 17. He was a stupid young man with a big gun who decided to play pretend sheriff and inject himself into a tense and volatile situation. He shouldn't have been there--basic fact---and because he was there two people are dead and another injured. They'd be alive today were it not for that moron. These morons think that because they have guns they can roam around and provoke people. He should have been home reading comic books, which seems to be his intelligence level. He should have been convicted. That right-wing groups would invite this dope to speak at events shows in spades how extreme, uncivilized and deranged the political right has become.
They’d be alive if they hadn’t been out in the street wreaking havoc. Why don’t you point this fact out? Maybe these fools should have been home reading a book instead creating anarchy to the point people felt the need to help protect other’s property? Sounds to me like you leftist worms are the more deranged and uncivilized ones.

He should be a guest on the view. It’s time for Whoopi and friends to embrace the great KR!!!

Hey knuckledraggers, I thought this guy was your hero. I see he's now persona non grata since he said he's not voting for Trump.

Because he doesn’t think Trump is conservative enough.

I’m not sure this is the win you think it is. Ive stated for years he’s too middle of the road for me

He's smarter than the majority of voters in this country. He's voting for someone light year's ahead in every aspect of either of the current idiots in the lead.

Can you please elaborate on who you're directing this to? I'd like to know if I'm one of the "knuckledraggers" and if that's supposed to be a derogatory term or not. "Knuckle/Knuckledragger" has so many definitions whether in Webster's or the Urban Dictionary.
