‘23 LA CB Jordan Matthews (Tennessee)

I havent done the research however I would venture to say teams with our record for past decade are not loading up elite talent 3 deep at positions
Two things generally move recruits. One is the track record of the team and coach... particular winning and getting guys drafted. Two is about the only good thing I can say that Butch Jones did... you can sell playing time.

It may change a little over the course of the season but if I were a talent like this kid... I'd think I could start right away in last year's secondary. That doesn't seem to be an advantage in this particular recruitment since Texas needs the help too.

We got Gibson who is severely underrated, so a miss here isn’t devastating
Honestly, in the era of the portal no misses are "devastating" You always have an opportunity to compare transfers to the quality of uncommitted recruits.

Agree about Gibson though. He has the right measurables. Just needs coaching.

All of the evidence, from the national perception of Matthews' recruitment to his handful of visits to Texas, suggests the Longhorns probably should be considered the team to beat ahead of today's announcement. And Texas has remained optimistic about its chances, according to sources, leading up to his commitment date.

But this is shaping up to be an old-school announcement of sorts, a relatively rare decision featuring at least a little bit of mystery going into his announcement ceremony. Sources close to Tennessee haven't been willing to concede that Matthews is headed to Texas, and there's at least some reason to believe the Vols still have a shot going into Monday afternoon.

It still would be an upset if Tennessee beats out Texas for him, but that possibility isn't out of the question. By all indications, this one still could go either way.

Why do people keep saying, "Don't do this to yourselves." Do what, exactly? Again, if he picks us, awesome. If he does not, just because I though it was looking good for awhile and I chose to believe, it is still not any worse than if I was negative the whole time. I don't get to laugh and scoff at everyone who believed he was coming, but, then again, I would not do that anyway.
I’m fairly sure any Tennessee fan that is mentally weak has died off in the past two decades.

Matthews liked the tweet. Not sure if. it means anything.
I'm sure it doesn't, but it can't hurt. No one plays their recruitment this close to the vest and the day of the public announcement, gives it a way by liking a tweet.

Labruzza was the last 4 star CB we got out of LA. He’s been here 8 years and has done absolutely nothing. Even if we get this guy, I will temper my expectations to make sure he is the real deal.
Eddrick Lofton never qualified so I’m going to temper my expectations on him qualifying. Has nothing to do with anything but hell with it who am I to explain my craziness.

Most of said queens migrated from that forum.
Maybe. I haven't noticed it being much different. Seems there have always been those who thought the future rested with whether one kid or another committed to UT.

Different kind of drama for sure.
