LADY VOL HOOPS CENTRAL: Chattanooga

No one's dissing Jones. She had a great game. Just dissing the coach who drew up the poorly designed play to her. Play to her strengths not her weaknesses. Should have cleared out and had Reynolds drive and dish to Jones, Moore or Graves. Simple.
That was the play they drew up. She pulled up instead. She had the lane and had what the staff called. She changed it. Don't blame that one on the staff. The rest of the night, yes, but not that one.

Edit: Not Reynolds driving but JJ. They had it and she changed it for some reason.

They are not going to replace Holly. We'll be a top 20 team every year and that will suffice the administration. They don't want to pay a big salary to a women's basketball coach.

So they will re-sign her after her contract is up?

But that wasn't the right play. That is not her game. She has shown to be very inconsistent taking someone off the drive. And, that's not how she scored all night.

I've always said Holly needs to be given time to learn how to coach but just not seeing any progress from her. The next few games including Texas, Stanford and Rutgers should be pretty revealing where she is as a coach. If she gets Harrison back soon she might save her but we'll see.

Why does Holly think she can turn down coaching job after coaching job for years and then think she can run this basketball program? Why does the administration think she can? Because they didn't want to pay a big time coach. Period.

A potted plant could coach this team into the top20. 12 HS All-Americans, top fan support.

Won't stay that way forever, though... ahem

Holly should have done what Pat did against MS. State one year in the tourney. She called time out, marched to half court and threw her clipboard all the way back to the bench. We were down 13 but that didn't last long. They came back in a hurry. Holly says they worked on defense and rebounding 75% of the time this year. Something doesn't make sense because that was a pathetic effort on defense and rebounding tonight.

Jasmine Jones was supposed to drive to the basket, but instead she chose the outside shot.

When Jasmine Jones, and she had a good night tonight, is the leading scorer, we will get beat.

Just a very bad performance by just about everyone that played.

I do not believe, as most everyone else does on this board tonight, that the blame lies with Holly.

I tried to tell ya'll to temper your expectations of a Final Four team. I tried to tell ya'll to temper your hype of Nia Moore.

But, it is not even December yet, so maybe I am completely wrong.

I could be mistaken, but I thought I heard Holly say in the post game talk with Mickey that the play was designed to got Graves first and Jones second. Said she thought that she would have drove to the basket.

Would you mind naming the 12 HS All-Americans on the Lady Vols roster?

I count 7 McDonald's All-Americans:
BURDICK
DESHIELDS
GRAVES
MASSENGALE
MIDDLETON
NARED
RUSSELL

Two of the seven MDAA'S will not play this season, which leaves Five MDAA'S that are actually available to play, and two of those are true freshmen.

So we now have three MDAA'S with any college basketball experience.

What top ten player would want to be coached by Holly after this?

That's what scares me! Opposing coaches will use this in recruiting if we don't win big games and make some serious noise in the NCAA Tournament.

Reynolds and Jones were WBCA All Americans. In any event, that's 7 HS AAs for Tennessee to 0 for UTC.

This loss is laid right at Holly's feet. What an absolutely pathetic team effort. One only has to see this game to know that our coaching staff is below par at this point. Out coached by a mile by Foster's staff. Maybe I am not privy to all that went on,but Nia Moore has been very good thus far and it's inconceivable she played as little as she did,or that Jasmine Jones played as much as she did. Defense was awful, ball movement was stagnant, rebounding was subpar, and every player on the Lady Vols should be shorting lay ups until their arms are ready to fall off, after running sprints until their legs ache. Prior to this,I have been on the fence about Holly, but,no more. She is not the coach the Lady Vols need.

I hate to admit it, but I have to agree with you. I try my best not to be negative against the coaching staff, but I don't see any major improvements. Who will they hire to replace her? Does Dave Hart even care? Will high profile coaches even want the job? This is critical times because it seems like we are going downward. I really hope this program does not become the next LT or Old Dominon.

Where Holly struck out today was with personnel management. She starts Burdick, Carter and Reynolds....three non-scoring entities. Those three should never be on the court at the same time. Why she gives Burdick so many minutes baffles me. She brings zero to the team, and if anything she should be last player off the bench.

Burdick's return to the team has made them a lesser team, and it cuts into the development of Nared and Dunbar...two players that have way more upside than Cierra. Seriously...I wish she'd graduate already

I couldn't agree more with you here. it was bad enough that holly started those same three against Tennessee state and we got in a hole early there, but then she does it again and starts the same three against UTC. I just hope we don't lose the three freshman to transfer because of warlick's silly moronic stubbornness to play upperclassmen..

Attendance seems to be down this year for home games as well.

So how many would it take for Holly to be able to beat UTC?

But, But, But she was hot, she was our leading scorer. Why wouldn't we go to her...This is what Holly is recalling...This is what is wrong with Holly calling the plays...No imagination, not willing to take a chance on the unknown. She is not a head coach and should not be considered as such!
