LADY VOL HOOPS CENTRAL: Chattanooga

I couldn't agree more with you here. it was bad enough that holly started those same three against Tennessee state and we got in a hole early there, but then she does it again and starts the same three against UTC. I just hope we don't lose the three freshman to transfer because of warlick's silly moronic stubbornness to play upperclassmen..

Attendance seems to be down this year for home games as well.
But, But, But Burdick did so well this summer...you do know that she won gold in 3 on 3 this year. This is what Holly is recalling. Holly doesn't see what is good for this team and what is not. She is not a head coach, no imagination! Ingenuity is not part of her vocabulary.

Well, you can't really blame Coach Warlick for that last shot by Jones. She was supposed to drive it to the basket and it appeared to me that Jones had the advantage on her defender and could have had a layup at the least. Why in the hell she broke it off and tried a contested jump shot is totally on her. LISTEN to your coaches, Dammit!

I wonder, Did some gamblers on the team make book last night? Only reason I can see for missing so many easy shots......... :(

its the coaches fault, when you win give credit to the team. I keep reading about the poor coaching. If that is whats wrong take a look at the money going into coaching. I believe Pat is still being paid and so is Holly. To get a big time coach Im not sure Tenn wants to pay or can afford to pay Pat Holly and another coach. To get a top coach it will take a lot of money. Jim Foster, the coach at Cal and Louisville have been mentioned in other posts and that will take a lot of money. If that's Tenns choice they will have to rebuild the program. There are a lot of very good coaches out there. Vandy, Marist, Green Bay along with the others mentioned. One thing is for sure if Tenn wants to get back to the FF there has to be some changes, and it always starts at the top. Another question is has Tenn given Holly and her staff enough time to prove themselves? Next season DD and MR are back. Will it be a team effort of will be be give the ball to DD or MR and let them loose? That's not team ball. Tenn has an opportunity to build around two very good players. Do they let Holly do that or do they go outside and try to find somebody else?

The problem was giving Jones the ball out that far in the first place. She was scoring by being fed down low. A better play would have been to give Reynolds the ball and let her drive and dish to Jones or another. Just not well thought out.

Ouch, boxer, that's pretty harsh. Shame that it's also pretty accurate. I want to start the Freshmen.:) Can we vote?

Happy post_thanksgiving!

Per the game, the warning signs were there. Against much weaker competition, the LVs did not execute their half-court offense well, lost more rebounds and loose balls than they should have, had problems with slow starts, unforced turnovers, and had periodic breakdowns. Owing their talent/size/depth advantages, they really did not have to pay for these problems in execution and intensity. But the lingering concern among those who weren't impressed by the blow out scores was this: a good team would expose and exploit these weaknesses.

No one could argue that the team was still missing Izzy and that a lot of new players are being integrated into the rotation. But, this has been the story of the LV program for the last 5 years--an inability to come together as a team and play at a consistently high level. In these seasons, such losses have often been rationalized as the wake-up call that the team needed. We will see against TX and Stanford if it is actually the case this time around.

Really shouldn't have come to a last second shot all these five star players we have need to guard somebody.

If they don't get it, don't play them I don't care if we have all forwards on the court. I will play the ones who will compete. Thank you Jasmine Jones for competing. She looked like Glory Johnson out there, with no real help from her squad.

Haha yes smallvol, I was quite emotional after that tough loss. Holly makes me scratch my head sometimes. I don't understand her rationale for player rotations AT ALL. And yes, I'm right there with you..start the freshman..it can't get any worse

Didn't get to Chattanooga, thank goodness. Was there last time. If I had gone Wednesday I would have been sure I was some kind of jinx:loco::crazy: I was so pleased with the first two games, know the competition was weak but thought I saw a lot of promise. Ariel came back and shot lights out, but she has trouble on defense, especially lateral moves. Then Cierra returned, Ariel seemed to get worse, no one boxing out, the only one consistently (IMO) going in for rebounds was Jamie...I was so frustrated after that game!! I like AM's game and hustle, Jamie looks good and it seems court time would improve her game quickly, Kortney still gets lost on defense, but...give her a chance to improve. After all getting lost on defense has the same result as getting beat on defense. At least with court time she has a chance to improve, and she can shoot. Holly called a time out and cost her a three pointer against Tn St. Passing up open shots, missing mid range shots, not rebounding, getting beat on defense...that's our experienced players! I like the girls, I really do, but they aren't producing, and certainly not at the level one would expect.:eek:hmy:I am glad I'm not coaching.
