Lady Vol Softball.

Gaffin on the pre-season list of 50 players to watch.

Gaffin Named to USA Softball POY - University of Tennessee Official Athletic Site

I clicked on the link to the list (embedded in the UT story) and the first person I see is Annie Aldrete wearing a California uniform. Bummer.

I did a quick count and the list shows:
SEC - 15 players
Pac 12 - 9 players
Big 10 - 5 players
Big 12 - 4 players

Several teams have three players on the list including Georgia (which is projected to finish 6th in the SEC!) LSU, and Michigan. Florida and Alabama have two on the list.

Why does Georgia State have two players on the list? Were they the team that almost beat Auburn in the tournament last season and lost because they gave up something like 9 runs in the 8th inning? Or was that somebody else?

Lexi Overstreet will fill in quite nicely in her shoes....no need to worry :good!:

Thanks for the presser video. Ralph Weekly...who is cooler than that dude?

Hopefully one of the new freshman pitchers can make an impact and give Gabriel and Gaffin some help.

They introduced the Softball team at the Lady Vols basketball game yesterday. Wow what a great group of freshmen coming in. With all the returning talent it should be a really good year. Assistant coach Madison Shipman confirmed that she is still my favorite all time Lady Vol Softballer.

Great press conference! Thanks for posting.

I am mildly surprised Gaffin is still going to be a major part of the rotation. I wonder if this is because Karen is hedging her bets re Gabriel's health and the fact that the freshman haven't yet pitched in a real game. I sort of hope that as the season progresses they don't have to lean on Gaffin as much as last season. I thought she was exhausted by the end of last season.

Re Gabriel - Karen said she is as healthy as she has been since she's been there. Great news of course but that's not the same as saying she's 100%. If she hits her stride and Bush and Moss pitch as good as advertised and then bring Gaffin in as closer - whoa.

Karen said Aucoin was still part of the "pitching by committee" but I just don't see it. She had too much trouble finding the strike zone last season. Ralph says you can teach location but you can't teach velocity. Maybe Aucoin has improved in that regard.

I'll be in Tempe for the Kajikawa classic and will be sure to post game reports.

Here's hoping for a GREAT season!

i think the Weeklys are going to use Gaffin as a closer mainly, which she is very good at,of course that is just a guess on my part :)

they did say that Aucoin was fighting injuries last year,I had thought that she may have went to 1st base, instead of pitching this year

it won't be long till the season gets started ,Feb 11th in Arizona and I see there isn't many games to be streamed early this year either

the Pac12 is shown for the earliest TV game, shame on you SEC Network

I never heard about any injuries to Aucoin last year. She had serious control problems--walked WAY too many people and eventually lost her spot in the pitching rotation. She's got to get the ball over the plate.

The Arizona State game is going to be televised Friday night at 9:30ET. Wonder which channel? SEC?
