Lady Vols' Harrison Has Torn ACL

well instead of a possible sec regular season title we will finish runner up...instead of a possible sec tourny title i could see us losing in quarters, semis, or finals...and instead of a shot at a final 4 we will now get knocked out in sweet 16 or elite 8...so we win nothing in conference, we do not advance to final four yet again...YEP..another wasted year for the once proud Lady Vol program

Devastating news to hear I hate to see any college player have to end their career like this. My thoughts are with her and I wish her a healthy speedy recovery.

Terrible news to read about Harrison. I was wanting to see her play at Colonial Life Arena later this season. Last season she pretty much single-handedly owned both Ibiam and Coates of USC in their game. Best wishes to her and her future WNBA career.....

I hope the rest of the team is not thinking like some of us that they will now get blown out by South Carolina and that they are sacrificial lambs headed to slaughter in the NCAA tournament. They still have the talent. Look at Baylor they have an undersized center and can still play with most teams, with the exception of maybe UCONN. I am not ready to give in and give up. I realize that Izzy was the horse that drove the cart but who says we do not have another player who will step forward and grab the reins. I believe this will bring the best out of our ladies. Go big Orange show everyone what you got.

Nina Davis more than held her own against UConn, and that was when they had Dolson. She's hard to stop.

I like the overall sentiment, and I agree with you. They still have enough talent to get to the FF. Who knows? In a matchup with SC or UConn, Stewart or A'ja Wilson might get in foul trouble.

The Harrison injury greatly reduces their margin for error, and every player in the rotation needs to show up game after game. But by no means are they ruled out. It will be a harder road, but they are still better than most teams out there even without Harrison.

Indeed, it ain't over till it is over. The pluses are that the LVs are playing much better than when Izzy was out with her MCL sprain. Carter and Burdick are out of their slumps; Graves is getting her beast mode back and Nared is showing real promise. Also, the LVs three guard line-up (Ariel, Draya, and Jordan) has proven to be quite effective.

The problem is just depth. There is not a whole lot behind Graves. Moore will have to provide a spark off the bench when Graves needs a breather or has a foul issues.

Holly may need to re-think her "don't quick shoot the basketball" philosophy. Without Izzy, the LVs don't have a consistent offensive threat in the post (I think Graves is better when she is crashing boards or getting the ball on the move, rather than posting up). So, they may have to live and die a bit more from their outside shooting (and crashing the boards).

damn. sigh. damn. Yeah, I think our ceiling is elite 8 or Sweet 16 without Izzy but I will be there every game.

One my favorite players, I really enjoyed watching her play the game. I used to say if we had a team of Izzys would be fine.

Get well Izzy. I feel positive that she will still get drafted, kinda high. :(

I don't know if it's worth her time to go for the draft this year. I wonder if a team would use a lottery pick on her? If she goes next year, I think she'll still be Top 5. I know it's not NBA money, but there might be financial incentive for her to wait until next year.

Any word on Jordan. Please let us get some good news with her. Hope she's not out with concussion like symptoms.

We don't have a Nina Davis she does not miss layups!!

I hated reading about this when I came in this evening. I loved watching Izzy play. She personifies the Lady Vols concept and team. She's a mean go-getter. Izzy, I hope for a speedy and complete recovery for you.

Yes, press and trapping team sounds good but that's kind of hazardous this late in the season. For one, we don't have the athletes to run the way we need to run for it to be effective, otherwise we will be doing it.

Plus we still need teams to play defense as long as possible, cos if we are quick shooting the rock, the opposing team is playing offense all game(which means you're playing defense all game and that sucks), now if you're shooting a good percentage, high 40s, kewl.

I do love the three guards, or four guards lineup, if we attack the basket all the time and still play good defense and rebound basketball, we should be fine, cos that is most team's achilles heels this year.

Jordan and Draya games have to mature fast into junior type players who can do it all on both ends of the floor and shoot a high percentage. If those two can increase their production you can cover Izzy point production but its the leadership, and the intangibles you lose.

I like Jordan at the three, right now she's the team best point guard with her and Ariel on the floor at the same that could be good. The guards need to know when to get others involved and don't brick us out of games and not too many turnovers, efficient basketball.

They all have to play well for us to have minimum slippage. The guards will have to carry us, lets hope they are up for the challenge.

They still drafted Devereaux Peterson in the first rounds. Teams will still want to have the rights to have a healthy Izzy.

Uh, Baylor starts a 6'4" center with Nina Davis starting at the 4. She also plays a lot of SF during games when Baylor brings in a 6'2" Sophomore PF. The lesson to learn from Baylor is playing team ball with 4 or 5 threats to score can be effective. We still have more talen than most every team outside of the top 10 on our squad.

I hope the rest of the team is not thinking like some of us that they will now get blown out by South Carolina and that they are sacrificial lambs headed to slaughter in the NCAA tournament. This. After what I saw in the 2nd half of the game against KY, I believe they have it in them.

I am so sorry to hear that Izzy had an ACL tear. I was thinking that the brace that she was wearing would have given more support. I have really enjoyed watching Izzy play for the LVs over the years. She is a great player! Hoping and praying for a speedy and complete recovery for her.

Harrison - OUT
Russell - OUT
Jones - OUT

That's three big girls we will not have for the rest of the season. That hurts big time.

I sure hope Russell works extremely hard this summer. We will really need her next year.

Hopefully all healthy next season with Alpha Dawg Deshields.

I will enjoy the season and temper my expectation cos beating any one of those top 8 teams without Izzy looks like a chore and a half. Here's to a never say die attitude...

Yeah, I expect for Russell to be an impact player next season and going forward All American by her junior year.

If they get to the Final Four without Harrison, Holly's salary should be doubled.

Nice, but money ain't got nothing to do with this. It's all about the fight in the heart now. We'll see who has it and who doesn't. It's not over...just the beginning.

GO VOLS!
