Well said. While I don't approve of the act of kneeling during the Anthem and I wouldn't do it myself, I respect others' rights to do so.
The fact that we live in a free society where anyone of us can make peaceful protests is the cornerstone of our country and our inalienable rights.
Billions of folks in other countries aren't so lucky.
My friend I watched the State Congressional hearings in Pa,Ga,Mich,Nev and Arizona live on OAN .OAN had nothing in commentary in those hearings ...it was the congressional hearings with sworn testimony .So I do not care whether you read it or not it is a fact that over 1500 sworn testimony statements produced .You need to take your head squarely out of the sand or even better learn how to read .
By the way did you watch those hearings ? If there are no adjustment to " mail in ballots in the next federal elections ....you may have a real revolution in this country.
Like much of those in this bowel movement of current political ideology, I have subjected myself to mind numbing and baseless claims. I see no major reason to object to this election. As you suggest, and I remove my "head squarely out of the sand" not one person with authority has found any reason to object. Even Bill Bar who has defended drumpf in ways he shouldn't have can't find any substantial fraud. I could provide more examples. Court case after court case, many hashtags and numerous false accusations. Really only lead to a few truths that were evident before the election.
1. Voting and elections are state issues and if you understand federalism then you have been aware of this since high school. Hopefully, well before drumpf and the minions started hijacking the truth.
2. Preclearance was the system in place to give the federal government some control over the constitutionality of state elections. In short, preclearance forced states to obtain federal approval before changing voting laws. This was a result of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. An attempt to prevent the states from enacting Jim Crowe era voting restrictions. Republicans led the charge to eliminate Preclearance, with the idea that we don't need that regulation anymore. Which worked out for the republican party in the short term with what some consider voter suppression.
3. I really don't think Pre-clearance would have changed the outcome in 2020 but if possible would have been given election crybabies less to cry about. Essentially it is make sure the feds agree with the rules of the election. Evidence of all changes to the voting process would have been pre-approved. However, I think all would have been approved and this is evident in no court was willing to hear any challenges to the election results.
4. Drumpf and his minions have been the only people raving about election fraud since 2015. However, there was no stop the steal movement when drumpf won the election. The irony here is more than hypocritical and really speaks to drumpfs' inability to provide true leadership. Just because drumpf and his minions have said things over and over again do not make them true. They were as wrong the first time as they are right now. No, evidence of major election fraud occurred in 2015 or 2019.
With all that being said improving voter turnout and security should be a top priority for our government. Could the mail-in ballot system be improved, maybe? All these are worthwhile American causes, spewing baseless election fraud claims only weakens us and leads to domestic terrorism. Sadly people died for the b.s. drumpf was spewing and he doesn't give two flips.
Oh my goodness! And here I was concerned that our country was being attacked by a prolific virus and violent insurrectionists who were incited by the president. Student-athletes peacefully protesting the obvious double-standard our government has for different races in this country? Now THAT’s troubling.
I don't think anyone on this site opposes the right of someone to protest an issue or institution. However, I, and I believe many others also, do object to the method and intended message of certain expressions of those protests. One thing we all learn from childhood is that our actions have consequences, and for sure, these young female athletes have not lived in a vacuum as far as the intent of this form of protest and its subsequent impact on those of us who follow sports are concerned. They have taken their cue from wealthy pro athletes who feel insulated from any negative responses to their behavior and from the cancel culture that has effectively limited responses by coaches or administrations who might also disagree with this gesture. When I see someone take a knee during the NA, I interpret is as an act of disrespect and disdain not just for our flag and the country it represents, but for everyone who has sacrificed to obtain and preserve the freedoms we enjoy simply by being citizens of this country. To offer a little perspective, how would any of us feel about a member or coach of an opposing team standing on "The Summitt" logos while grinding their shoe into it or spitting on it all because they had an issue with UT? One poster said, "It's just a piece of cloth." So I suppose spray painting the statue of Pat Summitt or toppling it would be acceptable, because, after all, it's just a piece of metal. I wonder if any of these young women know why Tennessee is called the Volunteer State or that just a few miles from their campus is the home of one of the most decorated and revered military heroes in our nation's history? Maybe someday, with age and life experience they may see things the way I do, but even if they don't, that's okay. But for now, after following and cheering on the Lady Vols for over 25 years, in spite of all of the great memories and experiences they have provided during that time, I am choosing to do with them what I chose to do with the pros about 4 years ago--I am cancelling them. I am totally aware that what I do will in no way matter to any of these players and coaches, and especially to most of you posters since we are strangers anyway, but somehow I do believe it would have mattered to Pat.
Of course it is a state issue and after the State congressional hearings where a boat load of evidence was presented to the state Legislatures ( that which I previously mentioned ) the legislatures in Georgia,Arizona,Michigan and Pa requested that they be convened so they could change their elector votes....but the Governors of those states chose not to do so .The Georgia and Pa legislatures sent letters to Congress asking for 10 days additional time to get the Governors to call them into session to change those votes.Since you did not and have not reviewed the evidence presented at the Legislative /Congressional hearings in each of the states I cited ,you indeed do have your head either stuck deep in the sand or up your ass ...take your choice. .Like much of those in this bowel movement of current political ideology, I have subjected myself to mind numbing and baseless claims. I see no major reason to object to this election. As you suggest, and I remove my "head squarely out of the sand" not one person with authority has found any reason to object. And,a 2 cents well spent sir .This person has gone full potato...there is so much spoon fed ignorance from the liberal MSM on display here that wasting one's valuable time trying to reply to this much shtupid would truly be a fool's errand.
Great post here. I , too, firmly believe everyone has a RIGHT to kneel during the anthem and even burn our flag.....for now anyway...but to us and many millions more of Americans it is interpreted not as any statement about the kneeled feelings or beliefs...but rather like spitting on the graves of those who have sacrificed, fought, and died to make sure we have these ever eroding rights.
As "Old School" as Pat was, along with Neyland and pretty much any great coach or UT figure of years past.....it is a near certainty that none would EVER take part in much less approve of any type of protest that millions of Americans and themselves would see as disrespect to this country.
Glad I dont watch women's BB...or the NBA...or much NFL anymore even though they made SERIOUS changes to what they put on TV after their audience and revenue declined by between a quarter and a third depending on which stat or source one reads. Shameful ignorance...and I am a white guy with 2 black little sisters that I love deeply and would die to protect. Its just stupid. March like the football team and coaches, if you choose. Call press conferences, use your influence for positive change....there are 1000 other ways to spread their message that don't needlessly involve our National Anthem, flag, etc....it is just plain dumb.
Again, this is nothing I will lose a moments sleep or peace over....it is just dumb. Since this is the thread to discuss it, there's my 2 cents. Go Vols
And this is suppose to make not disrespectful? Sorry it doesn’t change a thing. It’s absolutely disrespectful. Maybe and that’s a big maybe it didn’t bother her family members. But it does bother and disrespect my family. I also have a long history of military service in my family.just in case y'all need evidence....One of the Lady Vols players(Jordan Horston) I was talking about whose family has an extensive military background.....
her mother on twitter

The Knoxville News Sentinel has an article released tonight that all the Lady Vols except one knelt during the National Anthem. We do not need politics in college sports period. This is a total shock as I would not have believed it would have happened with the Volunteers.
