Lady Vols Recruiting Info

Christyn Williams will be trimming her list down to 2 schools sometime after her UCONN trip, then she will announce her final school choice on Nov. 10 in her school's auditorium.

Decosta, reminder, announcing October 10th.

Edit: Added to why she added South Carolina:
"Coach Law had been recruiting me at Tennessee," Williams said. "I love her. We have a close relationship. She basically just continued recruiting me but at South Carolina instead of Tennessee. ... I gave South Carolina the benefit of the doubt and gave them a home visit. I ended up liking them enough to take an official."

While anything can happen, I kind of figured that South Carolina was nothing more than a courtesy visit and their chances of signing her weren't very strong compared to her other finalists.

Do you know when she visits UConn?

I think that sounds like a good chance! Between us and USC? Or us and UL?

I was looking at Louisville's roster and Decosta could end up with about the same playing time at either UT or Louisville.

Question about the term 'wing' as a position. Espn lists Decosta as a wing. Does that mean more a guard or more a forward.

If Williams goes to either UCONN or Texas, how do you keep the rosters happy. UCONN tends to have a small core of players that get most of the minutes and Texas, I am sure if they shuffle the players in and out a lot.

DeCosta is the perfect player to take over for Nared. She is the big hope of the ones we have left on the board. Come Oct 10 we'll either be elated or dejected she is the player. Hopefully if it doesn't go our way we have at least a couple of players as backups whether that be juco or transfer we don't want to go into a season with nine players.

What position is DeCosta, Green and Collins? Can all three play a 3/4 if needed? Also, is Burrell a 2/3?

DeCosta is a 3/4 like Nared. The perfect replacement for Jaime. Athletic rebounder with scoring ability to the perimeter.

Green? Zay Green? She committed to Kansas.

Mimi Collins is a stretch 4. Tall, long, unselfish. Able to hit the mid range jumper with consistency.

And yes Burrell is a 2/3. Has the height and rebounding ability to play the 3, and the handles, passing and shooting ability to play the 2.

I hope we can get DeCosta and Burrell at least to go with Collins and Massengill. Hope Coach Reeves and co has a transfer or jc post in mind for '18

Thanks, I should have specified which Green. C. Green the young lady from England currently on the Roster.

Remember when Walker and Westbrook both visited ND on the same visit (like DeCosta and HSG). Then they both announced on the same day... and they went to different schools. I wonder if this is the same type thing. I remember everyone having Westbrook be a UMD/ND lean. NyLssa smith also plays the 3/4 like Decosta. HSG would be playing behind Alexis Morris, Ursin, and if she is on the wing she might play behind Natalie Cho. Regardless of me wanting Decosta I wish her the best wherever she ends up. However, if it’s not with UT then I wish her the best whenever she is NOT playing us 😂😂😂

Sidenote: everyone talked about Holly’s 2016 debacle but if OSU doesn’t sign anyone they will have went TWO SEASONS without a commit. I wonder if the Kelsey Mitchell effect is wearing off?

Just for clarification DeCosta is a want not necessarily a need for this class correct?

Correct... we WANT her really bad. Don’t get that mistaken but you have Davis who essentially plays the same spots as Decosta and Davis can play the 2 spot. By chance if UT misses out on DeCosta you still have Collins who is 4/5 and if Burrell comes she can play the 3 as well. Decosta is just in a class of her own when it comes to athleticism.

So, if Decosta does commit to Baylor, does that pretty much eliminate Christyn Williams from choosing South Carolina (as many claimed they were wanting to play together in college)? I ask because a few SC fans were thinking they had become a real factor for Christyn after her official visit despite being added back to her final 5 very late in the process.

Does anyone know if Decosta took any unofficial visits to Tennessee or was the official her first exposure to the campus and town?

The reason I ask if the recruit can afford to make an unofficial, then they can get a sense of the campus and town and factor that into the decision of future official visits.

No it doesn't, Williams added SC back because of Law and players she wanted to play with at SC. Just because she and DeCosta were "rumored" to play together in colllege doesn't mean they were. If that were the case she would eliminate Tennessee because that was another destination they considered together. I think Williams is in serious consideration of SC solely based on the fact that prior to her visit you heard nothing of SC come from her but afterwards she has talked about us a lot. Something to pay close attention to these next few weeks.
