I know Rae Burrell is coming Friday for her official visit and I certainly hope the staff seals the deal, but, in my opinion, the Lady Vols still need a solid post player in this class. I don't know about any juco posts that may be available, but I think that the last two prospects other than a juco player would be Ezi Magbegor, the Australian phenom, and Stephanie Soares, the 6'6" post currently in Texas.
Magbegor seems to be having a hard time deciding between following a basketball career with the Australian WNBL and coming to college in the States. As recently as October 21, the Canberra Times reported that she was "still weighing up her options between continuing her WNBL career or heading to a United States college next year." I know that at one time Tennessee was in the mix for her. Does anyone know if this is still the case?
Soares is somewhat of an enigma. There is very little that I can find that indicates any status on her recruiting or college interest. It appears that the family has been very active in mission work and that the young lady became involved in organized basketball much later than most of her contemporaries. The result is that she appears to be something of a "project", although every report I have found says nothing but good things about her attitude and her progress. And, she has the one thing that you cannot teach! Does anyone know if the staff has followed her at all and whether there is any mutual interest? I think a 6'6" post, with a significant upside, in this class and then a 6'6" post (Kamilla Cardosa) in 2020 would be fine additions to the program!
Just looking for information.
