Wow!!! Were winning and people are still complaining. I guess we'll never be 100 percent as a fanbase behind any team. These freshmen have done a marvelous job thus far this season. A huge transition from high school to WCCB play and they have managed it well.

Of course there are a few problems and why wouldn't there be these players have only played together for five games. What I am seeing is a team that could be dominate by the end of the season. Only a few things need to be corrected and were winning by 20 against good teams.
The offense is solid. The defense only fair. As the defense progresses this team starts winning by larger margins.

Continuity comes from on court time together. There is NO substitute for this. As they familiarize with each other's tenancies and readable movements, they will get better.

Scary, huh?

Yes, it is fans who are the root cause of your consternation. We are the ones who cheer on the team. We are the ones who stand behind the team whether they win or lose. We are the ones who offer constructive criticism. We are the ones who are patient as the team develops an identity. We are the ones who reject your failed leadership attempts and opinions. Yes, we are a problem for you.

Tennessee is not nationally irrelevant nor are they mediocre. You on the other hand......

Like with P4, I tread lightly with you Ricks,,,but with this post .... 100

:rock:In regular play UT Lady Vols had 17 turn overs. Marquette had 60 points in the paint out of 89. Our freshman Hayes had 7 turn overs which was half of the Marquette total of 14. This the same ole crap as last year...turnovers, turnovers. Everything Hayes accomplished was ruined by the 7 turnovers. Someone needs to call Coach Holly to task now.

disagree regarding the freshmen, but same ole crap is on point. only a few realists on this board at the beginning of the season as usual, but it suddenly sinks in when the cupcakes are eaten - as usual

:wink2:My ignorance - did John Ward - broadcast many/any LV games prior to his retirement in 1999?

We true LV fans will endure the post-football season boarders and stay strong for our football team that is having difficulty at this time - eating cupcakes.

Go LVs this season, also next game, past and present.

Eh I dunno about that... I’m a realist and we have to many turnovers, missed free throws, and are TOO unselfish at times... but after supposed cupcakes this time last year we were 4-2 instead are 6-0 after beating a top 20 team and an undefeated power 5 team I will enjoy those sprinkles on these “cupcakes”. Cupcakes or not I feel a lot better being 6-0 and the ladies are learning that as LV there is a certain way to do things and that winning is an expectation.

Still cupcakes, supposed or not. This time last year, 5/6 games were played on the road. One of the losses was to Va Tech - ranked #15 in the nation by mid Dec. Lady Vols haven't really hit the road yet. Yes, the freshmen will be challenged and will look like freshmen, but the upper classmen will not show much mettle and will look similar to the frosh. Not much different this season vs last, and won't look much different in the coming years unless someone finally decides that CHW and staff don't know how to get the best out of these girls.

Soooo you’re mad that they’re 6-0? I’m confused.... lol VA Tech also crashed and burned in the ACC last year and penn state didn’t even get a sniff at the postseason. 5/6 games were played on the road with an upperclassmen led team too... If you’re going to paint a picture paint the whole picture. I don’t know how you say upperclassmen will not show much mettle? Jaime Nared is averaging a double-double... I also think that CHW and staff are getting the best out of her at this point. Will there be ups and downs sure will but I think that’s showing mettle. No matter how you cut it they are still 6-0 and that’s the only thing that can’t be disputed right now. So 6-0 it is whether CHW is the coach or not (which she is) so I’m guessing unfortunately for you that means you have to give some credit to her. Because what you are saying is that they basically did what they were supposed to do which was be undefeated up until this point 😎.

I am not turning into a big Holly fan, however, before we start castigating and forecasting that the Lady Vols are headed in the same direction as the last few years, we should give them a chance. It is not prudent to be over optimistic, because you might be setting yourself up for failure. Though the competition might be in or near the cupcake arena, we are looking a lot better playing cupcakes than we have looked the last few years. This group of freshmen are special. Nared is more aggressive than last year and Russell, is just Russell. If Russell start playing her position in a more aggressive manner, this team could be real special. Don’t throw dirt in their faces yet.

Where in my comment was I overly optimistic I was just saying I rather be 6-0 rather than 4-2 (per last year’s record this time without facing a top 20 opponent as of yet). Also I didn’t throw dirt in anyone’s face? I would like to see turnovers cut down, more free throws made, and for certain players to be more aggressive on offense. All in all I am happy with the start and looking forward to see where this team can go. I think this group held together and if you look at the clips look at how they interact before the game, after a good play, after a mistake/turnover, and after a win. They are always supporting one another but they also get on one another! I can appreciate all of that and hopefully you can too!

We might want to also, consider Mercedes is 6'6" and she has a lot of legs (take a look at her frame) and when she does use her power, she showed an awesome drop step against a smaller defender during the challenge, I jumped up, she was called for an offensive foul. Mercedes in foul trouble is not good for us, not good. ijs.

Her hips are at most guards heads, if they are in a stance, she almost looks awkward posting up, that's, why I like the penetrating guards, it create mores space for her or on fast break, she can plant herself in front of the rim and seal, that's why I like the 4 out.

So, I see can why there is a lil timidness in her game against smaller teams, but with her size and frame now, I can't wait to see her bang, and she is allowed to play because of her size, without offensive fouls being called.

So, Mercedes has decided to use her length against smaller teams and zones and now we finally have guards to get her the ball. I do think, Mercedes need to get in the mindset, setting defensive, paint patrolling tone early, so the refs or her can adjust.

Now, remember when Mercedes plays against other bigs, she usually dominates them or out plays them. If Mercedes, was in the world of all centers were 6'4" or taller, she would be one of the best and I am glad she is a Lady Vol.

Go Mercedes, in all the big games last year, against opposing centers with size. You balled. So, I'm curious to see some of those match-ups this year. .

Green is still favoring her knee, she not really confident in it yet, she doesn't allow for full extension, that comes with time, could be another reason why her minutes have been limited, she needs more confidence in her knee.

6-0 against cupcake, cakes, pies, brownies, cookies, crepes. Did someone just say 6-0?

ok. Okayyyyyy!

I back Pat and roll with Holly.

Uhhhh NO!!! Do me a favor and see the truth. it's staring you directly in your face. Here's more truth for you. The LVs will not win another national championship and will become similar to ODU and La Tech, unless the AD replaces Holly. Players will start to realize their game won't get much better under CHW, as they realized playing at ODU and LT. The boosters screamed for someone to stop the bleeding at both these programs and their were people, like yourself, who continued believing things were getting better and that the programs would turn around. After a few years, the program did turn around...it headed further South because the higher rated recruits stopped coming. So, NOOOO I will not delete my account, I'll be right here for the duration.

Yes recruiting over the last couple years has been better, but the same thing happened at the two aforementioned programs. A couple good years recruiting, and then a fall off, and then a couple more good years...and then BOOM!!! 9 of the 10 players on the roster today are 6' or taller. All four recruits coming next year are 6' or taller. Help me to understand where the LV will get lateral quickness to stop the opposing teams shorter guards???? Didn't anyone learn anything from the 2008 recruiting class (Johnson, Strickland, Manning, Brewer, Gray) - NOPE!

There's a reason Hayes has been to the charity stripe 60 times already this year (2x that of any other LV) - shorter and faster laterally. Taller guards can't stay in front of her, so they reach and we get free points, assuming we make the free throw. Conversely, our taller guards reach and the opposing team gets free points.

I would like to see the LVs win a NC as much as anyone. Hell, at this point I'd settle for a final four.I believe the talent is as good as anyone. I also believe the talent was as good or better last year.

ANYWAYS, my predictions will prove correct. Time will tell.
