Texas still hasn’t reached a Final Four under Aston. I don’t see them as some benchmark and don’t consider them to be an elite team. They recruit well, but she hasn’t won any Big XII regular season or tournament titles in her previous 5 seasons.

While that may be true, they are still the first team that has players of the caliber of Tennessee.

I didn't see their games over Thanksgiving, but I have a hard time getting excited about beating a Marquette team that was considered a cupcake by Tennessee fans when they played in UConn's conference. Texas will be a good measuring stick for how they rate with actually talented teams.

They just need the results to match.

Like I said, I'm not going to pretend that Marquette is anywhere close to the stratosphere of Tennessee. Their best player was ranked #91 on Hoopgurlz, and no other player on their roster was a top 100 player on Hoopgurlz. They would have been lucky to have someone like Kamara Harris on their team, and she can't even get off the Tennessee bench.

It's a win, but Marquette was overmatched talent-wise in this game no matter what their preseason rankings were.

I won't disagree with you there. But I haven't lowered my standards for the team to the extent that I'll be celebrating that they didn't fold like a cheap suit against a team with significantly less talent.

That’s cool... I think some fans that complained the last two years are recognizing the effort and complementing something they knew was lacking...

Shoot its like Michael Jordan hitting a shot with a defender in his face. You pay him millions of dollars and know that’s what supposed to happen but it doesn’t stop you from recognizing something good when you see it lol. Plus look at those girls faces in the clips after that game. That was priceless in itself! They like each other and I like that 😂

This team will get better as they play on the floor together. The only thing that will rock the boat is selfishness. And there's not one on this team that has come across as selfish.

Just my opinion on the Marquette game. Our girls are still learning their rolls and playing with one another. These girls were all most likely the go to player on their high school team. Now they have to learn to be the third fourth and fifth option. I see lots of talent. But they have to learn hard nosed defense. To many layups given up against teams right now.

You know quite well that once you get past the top 20-25 players in those ratings, you have to take the rest with a grain of salt. Lots of super talented players just are not able to get to the right scouting tournaments to get on the radar screens of the ranking agents. Marquette was a team of predominantly juniors who had experience of playing together and are farther down the team building curve than the LVs. I am not at all convinced that Harris would have seen much time for Marquette had she been on that team. Our top seven players are high quality but three of those are freshman and the other is redshirt player who had not played a competitive game for almost a year and a half.

Let's note, these mitigating circumstances are not excuses for losses but "excuses" for wins, which I think says something about the state of this board.

Uhhhh NO!!! Do me a favor and see the truth. it's staring you directly in your face. Here's more truth for you. The LVs will not win another national championship and will become similar to ODU and La Tech, unless the AD replaces Holly. Players will start to realize their game won't get much better under CHW, as they realized playing at ODU and LT. The boosters screamed for someone to stop the bleeding at both these programs and their were people, like yourself, who continued believing things were getting better and that the programs would turn around. After a few years, the program did turn around...it headed further South because the higher rated recruits stopped coming. So, NOOOO I will not delete my account, I'll be right here for the duration.

Yes recruiting over the last couple years has been better, but the same thing happened at the two aforementioned programs. A couple good years recruiting, and then a fall off, and then a couple more good years...and then BOOM!!! 9 of the 10 players on the roster today are 6' or taller. All four recruits coming next year are 6' or taller. Help me to understand where the LV will get lateral quickness to stop the opposing teams shorter guards???? Didn't anyone learn anything from the 2008 recruiting class (Johnson, Strickland, Manning, Brewer, Gray) - NOPE!

There's a reason Hayes has been to the charity stripe 60 times already this year (2x that of any other LV) - shorter and faster laterally. Taller guards can't stay in front of her, so they reach and we get free points, assuming we make the free throw. Conversely, our taller guards reach and the opposing team gets free points.

I would like to see the LVs win a NC as much as anyone. Hell, at this point I'd settle for a final four.I believe the talent is as good as anyone. I also believe the talent was as good or better last year.

ANYWAYS, my predictions will prove correct. Time will tell.

I really believe that if this group can stay healthy, and the team hits a brick wall and just loses it, then Holly’s job should be on the block. It is not always about wins and loses only, it is also about the games you lose and the games you win. It is also about what you do with the talent you have. We have blamed the players many times for mediocre performances, however, when do you blame it on poor coaching? If this group stays healthy, Russell and Nared leading, the elite 8 is not beyond expectation.
