Lady Vols Softball Team Game Thread week 11

Monster win today. We may get a top 8 seed after the win today and our performance over the last three weeks. We should--but I'm biased. We did well. I saw a post that said 9 teams (including us, after our win today) were competing for 8 seeds. If memory serves, they were florida, arizona, fsu, washington, ucla, minnesota, auburn, oregon, tennessee. This poster thought that florida, fsu, oregon, auburn and one other (forget) were locks. What has auburn done that we haven't? I think the answer is nothing. Can minnesota match our rpi? In any case, we shall see. I think arizona has lost 4 of its last six. And orgeon was poised earlier in the day two beat fsu for the second time. I like where the Vols are. We proved our mettle against a brutal end-of-season schedule--and even so probably left at least one win (last lsu game) on the table.

I'm not sure that Bearden is the answer at first. It may be that we go with Holcomb in left, Vines at first and McSwain as DH. I think the player who has pushed her way into the lineup is Wiemer. I am STILL optimistic about Rowland--I think she will hit. Seggern wit a nice hit today--getting back on track. Great win today.

Don't forget about Oklahoma lurking around...sure they haven't been in the top 10 yet but the human factor and the way they have been playing they can find a way into the top 8

I think Minnesota has won 22 straight but their schedule doesn't in any way compare to ours---MUCH weaker. The best team they played all year was Washington, and they were 0-2 to the huskies. No way they get a top 8 seed before us.

SEC Tourney

Florida vs Miss St vs Ole Miss winner
Texas A&M vs Arkansas vs Bama winner
Auburn vs SC vs Kentucky winner
Tennessee vs LSU vs Missouri winner

Probably projects to

Florida vs Ole Miss
Texas A&M vs Bama
Auburn vs Kentucky
Tennessee vs LSU

Then I'll say:

Florida vs Bama
Tennessee vs Auburn

They've got to beat Michigan in the big 10 tourney title game....if they don't they could find themselves in a 9 or 10 seed if they win I see them in a 7 or 8 seed...they don't worry me as much as Oklahoma does...that's why I'm hoping they find themselves in the top 6

With the way LSU is limping wouldn't surprise me if Mizzou won

I think anybody could win any of the games in the first round. I picked the probable favorites but any of those teams can beat the other and that goes for the entire SEC excepting Florida which you must have a few breaks to beat them.

UCLA is another team that scares me. I think the last top 10 reveal has them at 10 so you would have to play them as a 7 seed. Big 4 in the PAC-12 are scary as Oregon showed against FSU

IDT Minnesota will end up with a Top 8 seed. I'm sure they'll be in the discussion, but UF, Arizona, Oregon, FSU, Auburn, Washington, UT and UCLA seem most likely to take the 8 spots, with aTm and Minnesota in the Top 10.

UCLA reminds me a lot like A&M but a little worse defensively

Aubrey Leach made two of the prettiest defensive plays that anyone will ever witness and probably saved the game ....or at least secured the victory. She is much more athletic than I thought.....do not know what her vertical jump is but it is out of sight .

Those were two great plays by a player who struggled defensively last year. Leach is an exceptional player---certainly one of the best leadoff hitters in the country, great baserunner. She makes this team go.

Karen says that Leach is the best base runner they have ever had on the hill. Pretty high honor in my eyes. She did struggle some last year and went through a slump about midway the season and it affected her offense somewhat as well. She is really the sparkplug for out team all around. She loves the game and is a sponge they wants to learn it all. I have pointed out in the past, even last year that when she is not hitting you can find her standing right beside Karen always asking for and Karen giving insight into the strategy. I would bet a nickle she is going to end up coaching college softball somewhere and is going to be a good one. You is not our best player but as she goes so goes Gregg and Vines . JMHO as always!:loco::thud::loco::bash::bow2::worship:

I am surprised that we didn't jump A&M in the RPI after taking the series on the road. It favors road wins.

It is surprising that we didn't flip #8 and #9 RPI with aTm. UT should be seeded to host the Supers... but you never know what the committee will do.

Have not seen the updated ones but I don't even know how TAM rpi is so great anyway. We should have jumped them but if and when we can meet them in the tourney I think we win at home. Fridays game just got away from us so early and the freshman starting (how) over Matty and her not sharp but nervous killed us. However we looked like krap at the plate and that had nothing to do with pitching. Get to the finals and maybe semis and we should be a top 8 seed. JMHO as always!!:shaking2:

I think we only have to win once to get a top 8 seed...now I don't see Tennessee getting higher than 8th with how far fsu dropped....oklahoma is creeping up...if they win the big 12 tourney I can see them jumping to at least to 9....which I don't want haha hopefully Baylor can win the tourney

Kind of shocking that we didn't jump Texas A&M in the rpi. Exactly who have they beaten that is so impressive.

SECN's Kayla Braud picked UT to win the SECT. To do that, the LVs will probably face Walljasper, Carlson and Barnhill.

Versus the top 25 Tennessee 14 and 6. Texas A&M 14 and 6. The breaker should be Tennessee 2 to 1 over A&M.
Really looking like we might be playing on the road if we don't win more games going forward. Looks like we have to win all the way to the final while A&M goes down.

That and the fact we did beat Florida!!!

The Aggies could lose to Bama on Thursday. I'd rather play LSU than Bama.

We very may go down in the tourney assuming we get to Auburn but I have no doubt Florida will beat TAM! JNHO as always!:clapping:
