Lady Vols Softball Team Game Thread week 11

We'll see the pitcher that pitched game one tomorrow. I was not that impressed with her pitching although we certainly couldn't hit her. She looked like she could be hit but I guess doing is a lot harder.

Actually hit her pretty well and there was some outstanding defensive plays that beat us along with 7 walks and two hit batmen.

Harrington's ERA is around 1.20, but IDT the LVs had any more of a problem hitting her than they've had hitting any pitcher for 4 out of the last 6 games. They've just been in an offensive slump. Today, they seemed to break out of it, so hopefully, we'll see a better outcome facing Harrington tomorrow.

Leach 2b
Vines 1b
Gregg ss
Lockman ha ha just kidding strike that
Geer RF
Bearden DH
Weimer C
Seggern 3b
Holcomb LF
McClain C

Monica Abbott to pitch would be ideal.

Mine is similar"
Leach 2
Vines dp
Gregg ss
Geer rf
Bearden 1b
Weimer c
Seggern 3b
Holcomb lf
McCain cf

Moss to start or Arnold with a short hook.

Would not surprise me for ralph to swap geer and vines in the order.

Even though shows is the stud I would think Harrigton would be the one. Both looked entirely hittable to me as well as Smith and the left hander (bite my tongue).
Our batters seem to hate any lefthander but todays was not much speed. The fastest I saw from her was 60.

Yep, this is our path. It's entirely possible, if not probable. Harrington is a good pitcher, and Arnold will have to bring her A game tomorrow. Moss may have to pitch, too. Lot of Vol fans @ aTm today and hopefully, they'll be back tomorrow for such a high stakes finish to the season.

We have a lot of Vol fans there because of Leach and Seggren are from Texas

Well, big win today--crucial win. Nice to get some hits and runs. Make no mistake: This team goes offensively as Leach goes: when she gets on base--via walks or hits--we tend to win. When she doesn't, it is a struggle. Today she laid down some beautiful bunts, as did Holcomb, I think. I watched the highlights and did not see a lot of well-hit balls, but we found some holes and that's what counts. I still don't know why the coaches started Arnold yesterday--Moss is clearly our best pitcher, and now we've got to come back with Arnold tomorrow, I assume. Let's hope she has her stuff and her control as a win tomorrow would be huge in terms of hosting a regional--h-u-g-e. Nice job.

I think we are shu ins for a regional but a win and a run in the SEC tourney should be a super regional territory.
Ralph finally gave Weimer a chance and she proved her worth today. I think she and a good day by Bearden should mean catcher and 1st base are set. Those 2 positions have killed us all year. I always expect Moss as she did today to struggle early and often gets behind the hitter and has to groove one and gives up the long ball, but she is our best chance to win.

Auburn breaks it open vs Alabama 4-0 in 5th They did show that the Lady Vols were 8th in the NCAA rankings

and A&M was 9th right? How close do they follow those rankings for national seedings?

Not really it's just a general idea what the committee is thinking....this weekend has been crazy softball

FSU was swept in Eugene by Oregon 11-0 and 3-1

Arizona has yet to score a run against UCLA in their series losing 8-0 and 6-0

Washington lost to Stanford

Miss State has taken the series from Kentucky

LSU lost the series to South Carolina...granted the LSU pitching staff is hurt...Hoover is on a crutch, smith took a ball off of her pitching hand

Utah lost the series against Oregon State

The ranking is based on the criteria used to select and seed the 64 teams for the Division I Softball Championship and include strength of schedule, Rating Percentage Index, head-to-head competition, results versus common opponents, significant wins and losses and locations of contests. Additionally, input is provided by the regional advisory committees for consideration by the Division I Softball Committee.

I'd say the game today is huge for a Super Regional home series for Tennessee. We could still get there with a loss and a great showing in the SEC Tourney but a win today would really put us in great shape while a loss makes us look to be slightly short.

Yep the human element is huge too...I could see Oklahoma jumping up into the top 8 even though they have not been in the top 10 especially after this weekend results

A critical game for a Super Regional...lose this one and it's an uphill battle to host a SR. :clapping:

Hmmmm... trying to pull the game up on SECnetwork+ and it shows it at 1:00 but not in the Live window but in the Upcoming window, which won't allow me to select it. Anybody know what the heck is going on? :search:

Nevermind...I check again and it just now popped into the Live box...so I'm good.

Just cut the game on and saw Weimer's at bat in the first. That's the kind of at bat I don't understand. Pitcher jammed her with every pitch and she didn't make an adjustment that I could see. Didn't move off the plate, didn't choke up, didn't pull her hands way inside the ball and ended up getting the bat sawed off in her hands for an easy out in a big situation
