Lady Vols Softball Team Game Thread week 5

Potential bad ending to the Auburn-Florida game 3. Auburn wins 1-0 in a pitcher's duel between Samuelson and Gorley. After the game as the players are going thru the hand-pat exchange line there was an incident. From what was shown on the replay, Auburn's Haley Fagan did not have her hand up and was just walking by the Florida team, when she got to Florida coach Tim Walton, he had his hand up and very slightly pushed her on her shoulder as he went by. I don't know if this was intentional as if to say "hey, get your hand up" or if as commentator Michele Smith opined his hand just hit her in the shoulder as he walked by. Regardless, Fagan lost it. She stops and turns and shoves him in the back. Walton turns with a surprised look and you could see him say "excuse me?" Her back was to the camera, so I don't know what she said, but he then shook his head and said "I did not" and turned and kept walking. That might have been the end of it except Fagan then started shouting and gesturing to someone off-camera. Then she starts to run toward whoever it was but a teammate grabbed her and then a couple more hold her back as she is red-faced screaming at somebody. A moment later she is clearly crying. That was the end of it. I've never seen anything like it in the genteel sport of softball. Strange.

There is history between Haley and her sisters with Tim Walton....I think both are at fault for this happening on national tv but I think Walton realized his mistake as he was quick with his team after and jetted off the field

It was pretty classless of Fagan. IMO, she was looking for a fight. The bug question is, shoukd she see some tume riding the pine for her nasty behavior?

Sure it was classes for Fagan not to have her hand up but Walton did not have to nudge her like that...and the words that were uttered to her by the Florida players is what really got her going....like I said there is a history between the Fagan's and Tim Walton

to tell us what the history is between the player and Walton! You bring it up and then don't explain....

In 2012 he kicked her sisters Kasey and Sami off of his team along with Cheyenne Coyle for allegedly bullying and being racist but it was never confirmed that was the reasoning.

Someone on twitter claims that they were being racist to Michelle Moultrie and one actually pushed her. Michelle stated at the time the rumor came out, that it wasn't true. But we all know there had to be some real reason why they were dismissed at post season play. They were three starters and most likely their dismissal caused the team to not ho very far post season.

Just know the team was split and Walton picked his side and dismissed the girls....but I would say the Fagan's and Coyle came out alright

I saw the video--Fagan acted like a punk but not putting her hand up and it appears Walton gives her shoulder a little nudge to let her know that she's being a punk. Sounds like a family of punks.

Thanks for the explanation!

The family is actually pretty cool haha

For those who don't know: The Fagan Family vs Walton and UF

In 2012 on the very day that NCAA Regionals were to begin, Florida coach Walton kicked Kasey Fagan, Sami Fagan, and Cheyenne Coyle off the Florida team. What did they do that was so bad he would kick them off the team hours before NCAA regional play began? Well ... it was bad enough that the entire remainder of the team told Coach Walton that if they remained on the team, they would not take the field. This is unprecedented in college sports history as far as I know.

The story told is that these 3 (especially the Fagan sisters) were mean spirited, grotesque racists all year and the cause of great dissent on the team. But the night before they apparently ramped up their behavior to more unacceptable levels and the rest of the team began to discuss going to Coach Walton with evidence of their behavior and demanding action. The Fagans got wind this was going down, and made threats and actually slugged one of the other players leading the effort to inform Walton. At that point the team decided to tell him they would not be a part of a team that included these 3. I was not there, but if you doubt this story, you can ask one of the greatest Gator players of all time - Lauren Haeger, who was a freshman at the time.

Oh, and Daddy Fagan is the very definition of slime. The Fagan sisters went on to play at Missouri and Arkansas, and now their younger sister Haley at Auburn. They have continued to behave like the trash that they are, IMO. You know Meyers knew that Haley intentionally was going thru the high five line and making a point of dissing and ignoring Walton. Meyers should absolutely not have allowed her to do this, but I bet he liked it.

I have always admired Haeger and the rest of that Florida team and Coach Walton for what they did in that matter back in 2012. And I still do, and nothing will ever cause me to be on the Fagan's side. But Walton definitely lost some of the high ground tonight. If you watch the video and say it was totally inadvertent, you know better. I'm sure anyone would get sick of years of seething hatred from that bunch. Here's hoping they meet again in a very significant game.

I haven't seen that story posted from that board in 3 years I also haven't visited that board in about 3 weeks I need to check it out probably got messages haha...but I will say if you think the Fagan's are racists then you don't know them at all if you think Walton is clean in all this well I don't know what to say....I just hate this whole thing happened on national tv and took away from a great game

Fagan's a little bratty punk just like the rest of her sisters and her family. Not surprised in the least that something like this would happen with her, especially given her family's history with Florida.

My question is, who was Fagan screaming at that was out of the cameras view? It wasn't Walton. Was it a UG player or other coach?

Had to be one of the Florida assistant coaches because I don't think any of the players were around when here sisters were dismissed from the team

So glad you know her....but let us see your reaction when someone talks bad about your family like that

Were I in Walton's place, I don't think I would have nudged Fagan on the shoulder. I would have been more inclined to say something to her as she went by like "hey get your hand up" and walk on.

I would like to know if Fagan had her hand up in the exchange line in the two previous games. If not I would tell coach Myers to speak with her about her lack of sportsmanship. If she did have her hand up in the previous two games I wonder why she didn't in this game.

508mikey posted this in another thread:

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2017/03/aub...lorida-coach-tim-walton-postgame-shoving-push

This article gives an incomplete picture of what happened.

Walton didn't "turn and have words" for Fagan and Fagan didn't just walk away. It's a bit more complicated.

I don't like Walton at all but I wish he had been adult enough to walk by Fagan without touching her. While neither he nor Fagan acted like adults I put most of this on Fagan. Walton was the one that walked away, not Fagan.

Reports are that she did not high five him in any of the games.
