Kentucky on the road this weekend....I'm thinking the weekly's will go with defense first to win the series which means McSwain is only a pinch hitter this weekend gotta get at least 2 on the road because as we all know it is a REALLY tough SEC schedule after this weekend....the bats are going really well right now and I'm not sure how good of a hitting team Kentucky is but Rachel Lawson will have her team ready

She singled and grounded out all in the first inning. There was a pinch runner for her when she singled then she returned to the game to bat in the same inning.

No. Gregg came up for the second time in the inning and singled up the middle to drive in two runs. However, she was not reentered into the game after being pulled for a pinch runner the first time, and was called out for illegal participation after the hit.

When a player is not properly re-entered into the game, it is scored as a ground out to the catcher. The same way a batter interference is scored. So where you are seeing a ground out in the stats, that is only technically what happened.

Wow. So Ralph forgot to tell the ump she was re-entering? Wonder how often that happens at this level:ermm:

RE the illegal participation ruling with Gregg, so I assume the two runs she knocked in were taken off of our total? That would have to be the case...

Right. The hit is taken off the board and the out is credited to the catcher, negating anything else that happened on the play.

A lot of teams, Tennessee included, have a couple of failsafes to ensure something like this doesn't happen, but most of them are checked off between innings. In this case, they didn't happen there in the situation of it happening all in the same inning.

Still not acceptable, as Ralph told the media after the game.

Matty is the starting pitcher and Scarlett is starting in LF....let us hope she has no mistakes out there :crossfingers::crossfingers:

Have to pitch a good game tonight sure they will go with their best pitcher Megan Prince who has an era of 1.32 only 75 hits in 93 innings. Rethlake is another good pitcher who has only pitched 44 innings given up 27 hits and an era of 1.11
This is going to be tough our pitchers have to hold them down and hopefully we can get 4 or 5 runs and that will be enough to win. We may have to hope that 2 or 3 runs win.

I know---what were Geer and McSwain doing in those at bats!? They both took "i hope i hit it" swings with two strikes--neither of them even looked at the ball! It was almost as if they were giving up on the at bat--very defensive. Not good.

Agree and Seggren was just as bad. I blame the pickoff of Lockman on Rowland for not being able to even touch the ball with the bat on a bunt attempt and Ralph for not having someone run for Lockman who is like a turtle. She stuck her bat out and the ball hit it and she was as surprised as I was>

Way too early to pinch run for Lockman if she has to be lifted....we do not want to see McSwain at catcher

That is BS. We have all kinds of runners and she will not have to be lifted!!!! She can reenter. The same thing just happened and Kentucky pinch run for there hitter. Get in the game!

Yes but if she gets on base again and is lifted she cannot reenter and thus McSwain becomes the catcher...which is something we want to avoid

McSwain with a huge 3-rbi double to right. Kept her head down on the pitch nicely.

First of all that is a big IF she gets on base again and every run is vital in this series and for sure this first game!! I hope she gets on every time but I would bet she does not get on again this game. Besides Weiner is a pretty good catcher herself.

I do not think many times if any but SM does an adequate job back there. We can just agree to disagree. Hope Lockman is on every time and I bet next time she will be pinch run for.

Oh I agree next time she will be pinch run for but not after her first ab...I don't think Ralph has ever lifted someone after their first AB....and McSwain needs a lot of work at catcher the amount of wild pitches, passed balls, and dropped k's is way too high for her to be playing back there
