Lady Vols Softball

I like our odds in a rematch. It's really hard to beat a team 4 times in the span of a few weeks. Feels like several years back when we swept GA in the regular season and then they beat us in the Super Regional rematch in Knoxville.

And when we took two out of three at A&M the last weekend of the season, then they beat us in Supers. And when we took 2 out of 3 at Florida in 2019, then they sent us back there. It happens when you have so many great SEC teams, but it's real frustrating to always see an SEC team with OKC on the line.

If we had won just one of the games at Miss State and won 2 out of 3 against Missouri, we would have been a top 8 seed. We didn't. It is not an easy bracket, but it is manageable. If we can't beat Liberty or James Madison at home, we don't deserve to move on. Playing Missouri will be a tough matchup, but you have to expect that in a Super Regional. I say, Go Lady Vols. Let's play ball!

Not sure what year you're talking about. In 2012 we split with them 1-1 (this was when some SEC series were mid-week DHs), and then we beat them 2-1 in the SR.

Then in 2018 they beat us 2-1 in Knoxville and they beat us 2-0 in Athens in the SR.

That's the only two times we've played UGA in the Supers.

You're right. I could swear there was a rematch in the regular season that we then lost to in the postseason.

I know two years ago we beat Florida 2-1 in Gainesville and then lost to them 2-1 in the Supers in Gainesville. That was a 5-12 matchup and I thought we were underseeded that year, but we also lost early in the SECT to 10-seed Auburn and I think that hurt us.

I was there when we beat Liberty. Ashley pitched good and we played good D. We “should” hit Liberty though. Can't have freak out D inning though.

The one good thing about a potential Missouri matchup is their average pitching, but it sure didn’t look average when we played them a couple weeks ago. Will be interested to see adjustments
That’s true but the two games I watched live the runs we scored did not match up with how hard we hit the ball against them.

Out of 16 regionals, an SEC team is in 12 of them. The SEC is well represented. I like our chances with Ashley on the mound. Many of our batters had good hitting streaks.....just not at the same time but certainly good enough for 40+ wins. Need our bats to put some runs on the board.

On paper we would not face an elite pitcher til the Wcws. No guarantee at all that we will hit though the Alabama was encouraging.

I thought we 13 teams in?

Extremely unlikely to happen, but I would love for Washington to channel that anger into upsetting Oklahoma in a Super.

It could happen. Georgia swept #1 Florida in Gainesville in 2016, and Florida was the heavy favorites to win the NC.

Washington is also heavily underseeded. Not only does UCLA have an easier regional than OU, but they have a team waiting in the Supers that they beat 4-0 in the regular season, including two-run rules, while only giving up a total of two runs.
