I'm not sure what you mean by "high seeds". If you mean a top 8 seed, that's not a true statement. If you mean top ten, that's semi-true, but a 9 or 10 seed isn't favored to host a SR anymore than a 12 or 14 seed. Since 2013, the last year we actually won a game in OKC, our seeds have been 10, 8, 13, 8, 10 and 12. This is with us consistently getting top 5 recruiting classes so I'm not sure why you don't understand fans' frustration with the coaching staff.
It's also been frustrating the last several years because our RPI has caused us to be underseeded a few times (i.e. 2014, 2016, 2019), we always get paired with another SEC team in the Supers.
This season, based on our RPI and how we finished out the regular season, I'm stunned we got a seed that high. I expected 11-13 range. Our RPI was 11 or 12 after the SECT. But I think LSU and Mizzou are also overseeded, especially LSU. WTBS, teams like Arizona, Texas and FSU were ahead of us in RPI, and I'm not really convinced they deserved top-8 seeds, either, so I guess it's kind of a wash. Probably the one one that could lay claim to it would be Arizona. I do think Washington is underseeded. Based on their RPI, they were seeded correctly, but the committee threw out RPI numbers for teams like Oklahoma (who was behind both UCLA and Bama) and Missouri (who I think had an RPI of like 13) but followed it very closely for teams like LSU (despite all those losses) and Washington (who I think is definitely better than probably all the teams seeded 7-15). I also think Kentucky is a worse team than ASU, Washington, Oregon and Clemson, and Oregon and Clemson deserved a seeds over both ASU and Kentucky IMO. Also, I think Michigan or Liberty should be hosting Duke, not Georgia. And Clemson should've been sent to somewhere like Lexington or Austin, not Tuscaloosa. I'm just glad they didn't get sent here. That would've been us hosting Oklahoma State in 2011 or Arizona in 2016 all over again.
