She only pitched three innings for them not very well 5 walks and a 7 era. I don't know why she only got the three innings.

The transfer portal is a disaster for all sports. It has eliminated the idea of personal responsibility and commitment for many many many players. Playing college sports used to be about earing your spot, fulfilling your commitment both on and off the field, making memories and lifelong friendships, putting in the work, and more.

Now it's just all about instant gratification and having your arse kissed or you'll leave.

It certainly leads to unfounded high expectations. Tons of (average-or-less) players hit the portal thinking they will have their pick of schools, and no one comes calling.

Covid and players returning plus add incoming class/classes log jams the roster.

Well, the transfer portal didn’t actually change anything for softball other than to remove the ability for coaches to block transfers to certain programs. You never had to sit out a transfer year in softball unless your current school denied you a release, which almost never happened.

Sounds like the same standards coaches are held to without the big pay check.

I guess I'm a softball junkie I watched a lot of that UCLA game. VT wasn't in the least bit intimated by them. I noticed early on that the lines around the batters' boxes were barely marked. By the bottom of the 1st the only thing really left was the catcher's box. Turns out UCLA has quite a number of slappers who step way out if the lines were there not to mention some of the full swinging batters were stepping out. Well VT slappers were stepping out too if the lines were there and they wore UCLA out. Vt hit Garcia and Farmino? they only one they didn't hit was the third pitcher who they probably didn't scout much. Hate to say it but Oklahoma will win it all don't see UCLA hitting enough to beat them if they get past VT. Garcia was like Ashley never really got fully going.

I watched both games yesterday also. I have always thought Garcia was hittable. VT was very prepared and did a great job. I don’t know if Rochard can fool the UCLA hitters again but I guess we will see since she seems to be all VT has.
I do think Bama has what it takes to beat OK and Florida may even have it too. At this point I want anyone but OK to win it.

Never understood the hate for Oklahoma softball. Gasso runs a solid program. Took a program that was playing their games on a city owned recreational field in Norman for a couple of years after her arrival to 4 NC. If the argument is the WCWS is in their backyard, that’s a weak one. When nobody and I say nobody wanted the Softball HOF located in their city, OKC stepped up. And that was years before Gasso arrived at OU. If arrogance is an argument, I can concede some to that. But they win.

I liked OU enough before the Chamberlain and Shelby Pendley years where Beth Mowins and company acted like they could turn water into wine and cure cancer. I remember when their careers ended at Bama in 2015 and ESPN sounded so conflicted the entire SR, probably because the two teams who they've forced down their viewers' throats were meeting and only one could advance to OKC.
