Lane Kiffin contrasts Tennessee fans and Los Angeles

From his comments it sounds like he regrets leaving and that with time he has learned USCw wasn't really his dream job. He was loved when he was OC for a championship program and he was expecting that as head coach. He quickly learned people don't like you very much when you are an arrogant loser.

On probation because of all those secondary violations?

Kiffin may only be a secondary violation machine, but add in Orgeron and you have the Death Penalty just waiting to happen.

Did we have the NCAA camped out in Knoxville by the time they left?

And I may be wrong, but didn't the NCAA visit Oxford by the time Coach O left?

Luckily, they weren't in Knoxville long enough to open their full bag of recruiting tricks...just my opinion of course.

He also said that a UT fan interrupted his child birthday party and asked for a picture for a family... Stay classy San Diego

that goes with the job. thats why Butch Joneshas won the fans. he knows what the job was going to require and he embraced it. i loved Kiffin, but there was never any doubt that he didn't care for the Tennesses lifestyle.

Three years after that bunch left, we still have some unofficial visits missing...what happens if we had gotten a Kiffin encore year?...death penalty?

I was pissed how he handled the situation but not how Kiffin likes to explain it. I was more so pissed that he dipped 2 weeks before National signing day! Leaving us with Doofus Doolittle. However if this what it took to get The Butch I'm okay with it. Because I think Butch sincerely appreciates the opportunity he has at UT.

Kiffin leaving was good because it brought in Dooley, which was doomed, which led to your hiring your (barely) third choice?

Wow, rationalization reaching new heights here.

Nope he'll likely be a highly compensated offensive coordinator in the NFL.

Possibly a lot of truth here. He's not a bad coach...a bad person who has no business calling the shots, but not a bad coach.

So Penn State gets caught covering up for a child molester and doesn't get the death penalty, but Tennessee would have had Lane and crew stayed another year. Makes a lot of sense.

I work in a manufacturing facility and we go through DuPont safety training yearly. DuPont training teaches that a lot of minor injuries are symptoms of a larger problem and will eventually lead to a major injury.

I believe Kiffin and staff would have kept piling up minor violations until a major violation occurred. I doubt it would have been a death penalty type violation but I do think the penalties would have rivaled if not exceeded the Dooley era.

Gotta get a remedial course on here for taking every word literally!...are all you Bostonians syncing your cycles because of the Hernandez murder spree?

Seriously?!?!?
The Death Penalty was an exaggeration...but you obviously got the point. We all know the NCAA won't give out the Death Penalty again, but do you really want to see what they can come up with in it's place?

If Kiffin and crew were so dirty, why didn't they give bags of cash to the Newton's? Clearly Lane knew Cam was a better QB than Matt Simms. He knew he desperately needed a QB for 2010.

He's not going to make it past 5 years. Over the long haul he will make less money. Yah, he Eff'd up.

When you get offered your dream job for 20 million or a chance to stay somewhere else for 10 million over the same number of years you take your dream job! Seriously hate when fans say "I bet he regrets it now" or "He will regret the day". It just sounds so childish. Whether about a coach, recruit or whoever.

If he does lose his job, he will probably get another one in the NFL for a lot of money(See Dooley). Over the long haul you take double the money when offered. Whether it's business or coaching or whatever. Seriously your math doesn't add up and you sound hurt. So no he didn't "Eff'd up" as you put it. He made a lot of money, got a free house in Manhattan Beach and Jerry Buss paid the buyout. Win for Kiffin, the guy that always fails upward.

Meh, South Carolina has self reported around 20 secondary violations the last few years. They're still humming along nicely.

In terms of talent evaluation, with the gift of hindsight, Lane was sometimes as clear as a mud puddle...I don't know if he was a give a church bags with $ tags on them type, but he passed on Cam because he didn't think the guy could run his offense...but Simms could?...better stupid than right on this one.

Possibly because the "Shopping Around" had too much light on it. The whole thing blew up before Cam's one season even ended.

I said they were dirty, not completely stupid.

Screw that! I was not a massive Kiffen fan but Dooley was an outright disaster from day 1. The moment they said Dooley was the new head coach, everyone in the state of Tennessee, ESPN, SEC, and even the folks in Georgia said, "who?" A loser with a losing record loses. Me and everyone else stuck with him out of duty to our team.

Hopefully you treat u stocks differently...lol. yes we love tn football but when a loser is losing u have to cut the losses..

Ut fans r full of crap if kiff would have stayed n had number 1 recruiting classes n we were winning 10 games u would be defending the secondary violation n the police reports... everyone loves Fulmer because of his winning. n great recruiting but his players were thugs cheaters n rapped n pillaged ktown.. n we loved it..

Yes will u have a few saw I never supported that but they watched n proudly sang rockytop....
