Lane Kiffin finalizing new 10-year deal with FAU

We already tried hiring Kiffin.

It literally set our program back 10 years.

Um no. Fulmer started all this with his suck ass teams towards the end. Hamilton further screwed it up by not protecting UT with regards to Kiffins contract. Kiffin told Hamilton he'd leave if USC came open. It did and he did. That's on Hamilton

Fifteen power 5 openings, and not one of those "fool" athletic directors looking for a coach even gave him a phone call. Not a sniff by anyone. Maybe it's you who is the fool.

Had Blackburn been named AD back in the spring like he should have....

He would be in the process of hiring Lane Kiffin after the ass kicking his lowly FAU team just put on Terry Bowden.

Akron sucks but I know UT couldn't have scored 50 on Akron and not sure many other SEC teams could've either..

It's just simply time for you fools to recognize Kiffin is one of the best coaches in the country.
I think he was an excellent OC and good where he is but nobody knows if he can be a great coach coaching power 5 school. He did decent at Tennessee but failed at USC. Say we did hire him... which was a long shot after finding out all stuff last few months I am glad we got Pruitt. Also Remember Haslam never helped us after Kiffin left but he also helped us to the point where we are with football at this current time. Lane is nothing more than a troll that is laughing at fans like you that want him back after he destroyed our program.

How long will you allow the pain to last? It has been a decade or more, brother. Move on.

The masses. That is now your defense. Lol.

How about you find a list of college or pro coaches that took over a program, in any sport, that won 25% of their games the previous year and then won their conference championship the following year.

It will be a short list.

Agree, what he’s done this year is impressive as I’ve already said in a previous post. But if we’re hiring based on a coach’s best year only then Gene Chizik looks like a great candidate doesn’t he? That’s your logic. Awesome

Dude Kiffin should have never even been on our radar. He was a nobody. Hamilton screwed us by even him in the first place.

You have zero proof to know that.

Gene Chizik didn’t do anything of note.

Outside of Gus/Cam, Chizik didn’t do anything.

I honestly think that Lane Kiffin had been given the impression by Jimmy Sexton that he, Martin, and Steele might be coming to Tennessee as a package deal. They were all his clients along with Fulmer. He was telling other suitors no and was screwed by Fulmer.

Why do I think that? Tee Martin and Steele were under the same impression. Martin never accepted offers to go elsewhere either. His best friend, Kiffin, would have brought him to Tennessee as OC, where he would have been positioned to become head coach if Kiffin went back to the NFL after 4 or 5 years.

Steele even made a call to Martin to see what he thought about the idea.

Instead of those 3, we ended up with a novice coach, a novice OC, a novice DC, and a recruiting class that has dropped from 33rd to 54th thanks to the Trojan horse from Alabama. Did I say Phil Fulmer's Tennessee legacy is gonna be shot?

Kiffin isn't that stupid.

It's been confirmed about 87 times that Tee Martin wasn't leaving USC to be an OC. And logically, Steele would be in the same boat.

Tee Martin would have a higher career ceiling as OC under Kiffin at UT over OC at USC Under Helton.

I like our staff now. The Schiano deal lowered expectations, but think we got a solid staff. Yes they can recruit well (here come Butch comparisons) but this staff is much better than Butch’s. I really wanted Tucker once Fulmer took over, but happy with Pruitt.

Love him even more if he locks down that JT kid QB from Cali. Helton is basically building his USC offense here on Rocky Top and I’m pumped.

Maybe....maybe not. But it doesn't matter because Martin himself came out and said he's not leaving USC to be an OC.
