Lane Kiffin

He Blows Up !!! Are you serious Clark? You might want to check the stats! He was ...

7-6 at Tennessee
28-15 at USC
26-13 at Florida Atlantic

Compared to what I've watched for the last 12+ years at Tennessee ... I'LL TAKE HIM ANYDAY !!!
You know those aren’t great records right? They’re ok but that won’t satisfy fans here just like it didn’t at USC.

OM offense is way ahead of ours already.

What the heck has our offensive staff been doing?

Besides getting fatter and fatter!!!

It’s fun watching a team do what they need to do to compete instead of trying to force things they “think” they should be able to do.

Yes, I honestly do.

Lane was 28-15 overall and 17-12 in conference.
Botch was 34-27 overall and 14-24 in conference.

Now do you honestly think their records were comparable?

I never thought any school would want to get rid of their coach so bad that they would leave him on the tarmac.......then USC said hold my beer

True but our fans are sick and tired of hiring guys that are still needing on the job training in Y3 or mid major coaches without the ability to handle SEC football.

Just shows how right you were with your recommended choice 3 yrs ago.

Well he lost today too, but yeah it’s always better to hire proven HCs and not up and coming assistants

Has a better offense in year one than we do with a 5th year senior qb...We won't do this to Bama in 2 weeks.

What’s so deflating is that Lane comes in year 1 and puts up 42 points, thus far, on Alabama’s defense. They have a competent QB, RBs and receivers. Defense is really bad. Question. Is the Ole Miss roster that much better than UTs roster?

Yes, I realize those aren't great records however, when you consider what Lane had to work with at Tennessee; little talent and an untested QB. At USC he took over a program that was placed on probation (by Carroll) and had drastic cuts in scholarships for years. At Florida Atlantic he took over a program that had not had a winning season in over 10 years. So all in all Lane did a fantastic job.

Now, if he had stayed at Tennessee and been able to continue recruiting top talent and developing them I have no doubt Tennessee would be in the top echelon of the SEC by now and would probably have won multiple SEC East titles and possibly a couple of SEC championships. but sadly, we will never know.

Oh I have a lot of doubt. He didn’t get it done at USC with talent in his back yard and an easier conference. Some were on here saying the same stuff about Leach after his first game. Now look at that mighty offense. 2 points at KY? Kiffin is a solid 8-4 coach with the hype that exceeds his record. And it wasn’t that he left for his dream job. It was how he did it but that was a long time ago. He’s a decent HC and great OC. That’s it.

No, the Ole Miss roster is worse than our roster.

I don’t want to hear excuses made for this coaching staff anymore. It’s time to put up or shut up and win games. If South Carolina can beat Georgia between the hedges, if Ole Miss can take Alabama to the wire, if Arkansas can beat Auburn in year one, if Mizzou can beat LSU, then there is literally no excuse anymore for Tennessee to always fall back on the excuse “we’re just not ready yet.”

Win some damn games. I’m tired of watching us get drilled.

I would've taken Lane back in a new york minute...I can't hate the guy for wanting to take his dream job...If I had been at USC and Tennessee came calling I would have left there to come to UT...He would've had us turned around by now I have no doubt.

USC was on probation while Lane was at USC and recruiting was very limited due to reductions in schollies...That was his downfall, He ran out of talent.

If history repeats itself, mattresses may get burned in Oxford at the end of the year. Kiffen played Bama close his year at UT too if I remember correctly.

Records with absolutely no context is kind of silly. Kiffin was in the Pac 12, and he regressed, just like Butch did, except Butch at least won 3 straight bowl games. Kiffin couldn't even win the Sun Bowl.
