Lane Kiffin's 'dream job' will pay him $4 million. For ... what, again?

Dooley recruited 3/4 of that Louisiana Tech team that threw up 4-8 last year. Kiffin only recruited the true freshmen on last year's UT team (and not all of them at that).

So all you've done with this sentence is indict Dooley's recruiting ability.

This is a very sorry argument you argue all of the time.

Dooley's team last year was practically decimated with injuries. First and second string injuries. Leaving him with inexperienced one and two star freshman getting playing time they never should have gotten.

Da'Rick Rogers, Justin Hunter, and James Stone to name a few off the top of my head.

He certainly didn't drastically improve the class. But he held most of it together and managed to add a couple of quality players also. He didn't have it as easy as Kiff does at USC either. Pretty much every High School player in Southern California wants to play at USC, no matter who the coach is.

WE had better talent that UCLA and that really worked out well for the future 4mil a year coach.

Nick Saban lost to Louisiana-Monroe in his first year at Alabama. Clearly, that was a sign he was going to fail. Oops, never mind.

The difference being that all those guys were already heavily recruited by Kiffin to Tennessee.

Dooley did a good job at a harder venue.

He did a good job bringing in players that Kiffin had already warmed to UT. The guys Dooley brought in cold, so to speak, weren't all that highly regarded. The guys Kiffin introduced to USC were.

But at least to of them expressed that they didn't have interest in UT until Dooley got here.

Da'Rick made a comment similar to that, but not exactly that. I don't recall either of the other two saying it. Possibly Justin Hunter wasn't feeling the love because he was being pushed aside to make room for Ambles and Rogers. Stone was also getting nudged for Chaz Green.

I was actually referring to Rogers and Stone. Granted, I don't know all of the facts, but I was still impressed by what Dooley did in the little time. And I still am impressed with Dooley and think he can do very well recruiting here.

Dooley did fine to land those guys, but I still don't think he's able to get them without Orgeron breathing down their necks all year long prior to his departure.

This is one of probably many examples where the head coach's and the assistant coaches' salaries should be switched.

I'm not so sure about that. He has big time recruiting experience from recruiting at LSU. But, I guess we won't know how well he can recruit on his own until he brings in this class.

Im pretty sure Stone said there is no way on earth he would be here if Kiffin was still here.Said he had no interest in UT till Kiffin left.

"He always liked UT, but he wasn't going to go there with Kiffin and Orgeron," Maplewood High School coach Ralph Thompson told The Tennessean. "He wasn't really considering UT as long as Kiffin and Orgeron were there. Once (Derek) Dooley got the job and Kiffin was out of there, once he was able to meet Dooley and see what kind of guy he was, he was all for going to UT."
