Shaka Smart would probably choose NC State because it is a safe hire. No NCAA sanctions. If he had his choice between us and NC State, he would choose NC State.

I never said we were......... We are officially charged with 10 major violations am I correct? I'm jus saying we can only speculate that it will be lighter but we dunno exactly how much. And didn Hammy say he knew of the bump but didn report it because they found it not necessary?
This thread is about my coaching hire opinion not the allegations and punishment anyway.

No Pearl didn't report it to the AD. Hamilton found out from the NCAA.

NC State has some decent players coming back... including CJ Leslie. Also, their current commitments are still planning on coming to school and not asking for releases.

Thought I had read somewhere were he once said he did then the story was changed sorry. Is it not true the NCAA doesn give schools before hand the difference in punishment if they keep or fire the coach? Wow but seriously all this over a secondary violation that woul have been nothing. I could see a coach covering up pay for play etc but not this.

Acc is harder than sec in every way. I doubt it. More stability at UT IMO because fans look at football first in the SEC

I can't see Larry Brown returning to college to don our orange blazer. I am not taking a dump on our program with that comment. It just would really surprise me if this happens.

Am I one of few that actually believe that Larry Brown would be a great hire and doesn't see it as a pipe dream? I think we bring in Larry Brown for 3-5 years, let him do his thing, and then probably promote from within depending on what assistants he brings. I think at this point, pedigree and name are vital. We cannot hire an up and comer that recruits aren't going to recognize. My first choice would be Chris Mooney outside of Frank and Brown. After that, the pool becomes more diluted. Tupaka Smart seems like he can get the job done, but I don't think he is a better coach than Anthony Grant. VCU is a vastly underrated program. They have a stable of local talent and less stringent academic requirements than the SEC and other major conference schools. Buzz Williams would be a nice fit and would make the Daddy Maymon's effin day! Hahaha

EVERYONE knows who Larry Brown is, and his name and coaching ability matter waaaaay more than his age. He would stabalize things and I doubt anyone would be asking out IMO.

You underestimating Larry Brown and that team? He'll bump it up a notch because he is dead set on staying in Detroit.
