Would this help explain why we are hearing it is possible to get reinfected with another strain, just as you can with the flu even though you had a flu shot? By next year the vaccine may not even be very effective. JMO as I do not know how they target new flu strains year to year but I assume it is pretty much a guess.
I assumed similar. Each year, the medical world tries to guess at the most likely prevalent strains from many, many flu viruses. That is what makes up the yearly flu vaccine (the 3 or 4 best guesses). In this case, we'd be seeking a single vaccine for one virus; not an attempt at vaccinating against multiple corona viruses that exist. That should depend on how quickly and significantly it mutates. Perhaps a MD can correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe influenza can have the problem of more frequent mutation with multiple strains in circulation. However, in our limited experience this far with this coronavirus I think mutations have been minor (but very we have been observing for a fairly limited time).
I have 3 kids with a mother in law that watches the kids after school and when school is out. One of my children is special needs so that adds more to the equation but, taking that out as a factor, it is difficult and expensive to find someone to watch 3 kids. With that said, I agree with you that childcare concerns shouldn’t prevent us from opening back up. If the grandmother can’t watch our kids due to risk to her health, not to mention her in-laws that live with her, and we can’t find someone else to help then my wife or I would stay home. If the greater good is that we open up with restrictions on the elderly and that causes disruption in my household then so be it. We will adapt.I know this but it doesn't negate my post. We can't keep schools closed or the economy hostage over some people being inconvenienced.
That's exactly what I was contemplating. I suppose we would have a decent timeline on how quickly the mutations occur, if this proves to be the case. But yeah, it could mutate every which way, and who knows how many strains there would be. Seems like vaccines and predicted concentrations of a strain would take some serious quantum computer modeling to have a chance to stay on top of it. If it would even be possible.
but anyway... nothing to say it's that bad, at this point.
This would seem paramount. If it will be such a moving target, we may as well open up the economy and just let this thing play out. We really just need a prophylactic and we can just move on.
How much of that “plan” is not already being developed by the experts involved? And how much can actually be credited to Joe Biden? If any, odds are it was plagiarized. My cynical summation....
1) find a cure/vaccine faster
2) re-open economy as slow as possible
3) blame problem on current administration

Trump knows how to pick 'em
So are you agreeing with the notion that the black SG is racist towards black people, among other nationalities? Sure thing EL. You just flat out post any garbage you find no matter how stupid and, judging by how much garbage you post, you do nothing else but scour the internet for anything negative about Trump.
EL does scour to find all the stupidity she posts. She has to go through hundreds of thousands of tweets, not to mention keeping an eye on all the left media outlet favorites and there a lot of those outlets. It must be her full time job.Scour? lol. All you have to do is Google "Trump" and you have a boatload.
