No. Legal immigrants are just as likely (or more likely as these companies would not knowingly break the law by hiring illegal immigrants) to work there and live in the same housing and community conditions.
Legal status is a fair point. I don’t know if legal or illegal. And it’s largely beside the point (aside from the issue of potentially not seeking medical care). There are a lot of people where it’s 5 guys sharing an apartment working at these plants - or at least that was my experience from 20 years ago and growing up near one. My aunt worked there too - not saying everyone is an immigrant. I will say my aunt wasn’t paid well and struggled - and wouldn’t have missed work if feeling a little sick.
