People who manage these outbreaks professionally will generally tell you that if you wait to be right to act, that you will always lose. These viruses don't wait. Now when it comes to shutdowns the consequences of being wrong are huge. I get that. But its just as wrong to be dismissive of the virus' effects as it is to be dismissive of the economic consequences. This is rough. Pandemics are terrible. It's why some people have sounded such loud alarm bells about them.

I'm ignoring chicken ( Monty Python) little. I live in a different area where we are not piled on top of each other like urban jungles. They are the ones who take the hit because of per capita. Boston will too. That's just common sense.

It will be interesting to see what halftime adjustments will be made between this outbreak and the next round of it. Will there be more partisan divide between the States and the Feds? Will we keep paying people more money to stay home than go to work? Will Trump heed warnings to protect the citizens or hedge on the side of the economy if it hits just before the election? Lots of questions about the effectiveness of our government to build off successes and learn from mistakes will be fleshed out.
