Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Did you even read your own article?

It literally stated ONE out of 5 flights from china landed in NYC.

So the other four landed somewhere like Chicago, Atlanta, La, Minnesota and none of those cities that got FOUR out of the 5 have the mass outbreak that the city that got ONE out of 5 has.

Before you call people slow you may wanna check your own propaganda piece there skippy and make sure the numbers match your lies.

Think that may hurt the DIMs do to lower Union participation?:)
That sure would break my heart. I tell you what, we've had to deal with a couple of teachers bringing their political views into the classroom. I'm afraid we will see more and more of that and they already try to brainwash kids enough as it is! Maybe I should look at homeschooling after all. Nah, I just have to make sure they know not to be conned by their teachers.

Based on some analysis I've been working on, I'm using a few states to watch impact of mobility very closely. Georgia is one - but because they had fewer infections there is more noise in the data. Michigan is very similar to Georgia in their return to mobility - and because there is a bigger signal there, it is an interesting proxy.

Based on my work, I think we would just now see a rise in deaths that came from their drop in social distancing. If you do not see negative numbers coming over the next week, it is a great piece of data that says opening up is not causing an immediate surge. But, it'll be something I'm watching carefully.
Have you also looked into Sweden? Last I saw is they are not experiencing a lot of problems. They did more of a soft shutdown. Everything stayed open but practiced distancing and good hygiene. I think Trump called it the Herd Approach and was critical of what they did. Of course much fewer people there.

What’s the worst case of a teacher being political in classroom that you’ve seen?

Georgia is technically opening back up, but lots of businesses are remaining closed voluntarily

Conor Sen: Georgia’s fast reopening is going pretty slowly – Twin Cities

I've looked at them some. I actually compared Stockholm County to Davidson County / Shelby County because they are very similar in population density and it seemed relevant for this board. I did that several weeks ago - but at that time, the difference was obvious, even when corrected to a per capita basis (Stockholm County has a lot more people spread out over a bigger area...so similar density but more people). However, they did not over-run their medical system (which is a pretty good one, so it has that going for it). But, a high number of deaths, relatively. I'll try to find that analysis and refresh it.

The really hard part with that, when trying to compare back to the US, is how people would social distance. It's possible that the Scandinavians would take those social distancing orders differently than other folks in the world. And without understanding that, it's hard to compare. That is why I was trying to use state-level data to compare deaths/day (with lag) at various levels of mobility.

The video I've seen showed no changes for friends at a cafes but it did appear they were taking the "Stranger Danger" approach.

This makes sense. I did spend a month in Sweden years ago and they probably are more apt to follow what there leaders tell them. They tend to trust them more. Their leaders also use the same healthcare system as the citizens and try to keep it in good shape.

A couple of years ago one of my oldest son's 5th grade teachers decided to share her views on Trump with her class. The good thing is he already knew not to listen to his teacher's political views. We still called the school.

Davidson County - 40 deaths / 694,144 people = 5.76 deaths/ 100 k pop (pop density = 1,326 /sq mi)
Shelby County - 81 deaths / 937,166 people = 8.64 deaths/ 100 k pop (pop density = 1,194 / sq mi)
Knox County - 5 deaths / 470,313 people = 1.06 deaths/ 100 k pop (pop density = 822 / sq mi)
Stockholm County - 1,463 deaths / 2,344,000 people = 62.4 deaths/ 100 k pop (pop density = 945 / sq mi)

So, the per capita death rate is about 8-60x higher in Stockholm County vs. some of Tennessee's most populous counties, which are somewhat similar in population density. I think roughly 10x is a pretty good way to think of it rather than the 60x because Knox County has just struck me as remarkable on how low the death count is there during this.

I remember one of my 5th grade teachers asking everyone in the class who their parents were going to vote for, Richard Nixon or Hubert Humphrey and almost everyone raising their hands for Nixon. She gave us all a lecture about how HHH was better than Nixon but I don't think it changed the election at all.
