Since the official narrative in China doesn't appear to be completely forthcoming I'm going to wait to panic until I see what happens in other countries. If similar patterns begin to unfold I'm going to stock up on supplies and hunker down on the farm.

I really appreciate all the info you guys bring, I'm not on Twitter and my social media presence consists mainly of Facebook. I've turned into an old man.

This is probably a dumb question but can this virus survive on shipped goods? I would hope and think not.

You may want to begin stocking up now, from a preparedness perspective. I've read that some US suppliers and retailers are running low on certain items, mainly the surgical masks. Flu season is the primary reason why, but the fears from this new virus are certainly not helping to restocking levels.

It’s not dumb at all . From what I’ve read , no . only a few days outside the host and the longer it is out the less dangerous it becomes . So unless somebody cough or licks the package then hands it to you , probably very slim chance of anything coming from it .

I've seen more talk about the Wuhan coronavirus on Bloomberg financial channel because of its effects in the markets.

We've got plenty of gloves here and a few masks from dealing with our farm animal issues from time to time but I'll see if I can't scare any masks up. Mainly the supplies I'd need would be food for the animals and my family, gas, batteries, firewood ammunition etc. We've got wells on the property so I think we'd be in decent shape to spend a number of months if needed. I feel pretty confident.

The cities would be a horrible place, I'd have to go to Nashville and get my mother and being her back before all hell broke out.

It's a bioweapon. With a 14 day incubation, it's already everywhere. Hold onto your butts people, this could get very real.

You seem in good shape. We are not.

I live in a small town 10 mins outside charlotte..with a population over 1MM and the 9th busiest airport in the world...which is 5 miles from my house as the crow flies. Really hope it doesnt make it here.

Trump needs to lock down the airports and err on the side of caution.

You are advocating for Trump to send a shockwave through our economy. Let’s all just stay calm and take some reasonable precautions.

I don't pray, but if I did, this could be the time to. Funny, after all the fear of nuclear weapons, the bigger more realistic threat has always been the pandemic. When it comes out that we made this virus in an attempt to play God and rule nature, hopefully the survivors will show a bit more respect to forces that are ultimately beyond their control.

Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Agreed, travel bans will do nothing to prevent this now. Especially since you can spread this without showing symptoms.

Agreed. When we see mass deaths in other countries it‘ll be time to worry.

It's already in our country. I don't think locking down airports would do much of anything other than create chaos, panic, and hysteria.
