Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Do you know how many people the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has helped? It’s not hyperbole to say they have helped saved millions of lives.

I never said they didn’t . I would also bet anything the other two I mentioned have also . I know for sure Buffett donates heavily to charities one of them is the Gates foundation from what I’ve read .

I don’t see Jeff Bezos not stumping for Amazon or Warren Buffett stop investing in stocks . The Gates foundation is all about some pandemic , vaccine and dispersed ions in the air to reflect the suns heat . I would rather a person with more money than most countries dabble in other hobbies like collection baseball cards or buying expensive horses for his daughter to ride .
That's a wild opinion. Why do you think Tom Brady still plays football?

Also, the whole conservative argument basically hinges on the wealthy not doing what you're suggesting. Saying you wish Bill Gates would just hoard his money instead of saving thousands of African kids because you are scared of vaccines is just wild.

My problem isn’t with Gates saving people or helping people . My problem is you have people with enough money to buy your soul with , working with other countries ( China ) and groups that think dispersing ions in the atmosphere to block the suns rays is a good idea . I never said I was afraid of a vaccine , I’m afraid of men that have enough money to get anyone to do anything they desire at any time without limits . I wouldn’t trust myself with 60 billion $ but I’m supposed to trust a man that I don’t know , that could offer you enough money to make you walk butt ass naked in downtown NYC with an alligator on a leash ? Don’t even start with that “ I can’t be bought stuff “ .

A Texas Bar Owner Is Banning Masked Customers and for a Logical Reason

A bar owner in Elgin, Texas, has decided that wearing a mask inside his bar should be prohibited, but his reasoning is pretty solid.

According to KXAN, co-founder of the Liberty Tree Tavern, Kevin Smith, has told customers that if they believe they need to be wearing a mask then they don’t need to be at a bar, they need to be staying home.

Celebrate ignorance and stupidity. Trump will be proud.

It’s crazy internet crap and not reading anything besides a quote with out context.

Okay. Fair points all around. I think you've got problems no matter how you look at it. Putting a cap on personal wealth is a dangerous game, and philanthropy from the wealthy is an integral part of the whole system that should be highly encouraged, generally speaking.

It’s strange that a Trump supporter, and not knocking you reb, should be cautious of someone’s intentions whose super wealthy, when you know Trump is super wealthy. Oh and he’s also the most powerful man on earth. The POTUS is far and away more powerful then Bezos. For at least four years.

Well there is an obvious difference where Trump's power as president is at least theoretically disconnected from his wealth, where someone like Gates or Bezos power is their wealth.

I think (maybe) we can agree that the wealthy are less prone to corruption in aggregate. I think very early on that was one of the more appealing aspects of Trump's campaign. It seemingly wasn't fueled or funded by special interest groups.

However, even if I am convinced of someone's positive intentions, I agree with Reb they shouldn't be handed a free pass to do whatever they want.

I think we can all agree on your/rebs last point

The wealthy are LESS prone to corruption????

Depends on what you mean by corruption.

The smart ones drive right up to the line of illegality, and park there. The dumb ones, like Trump, hire shady lawyers like Cohen, or compromised agents like Manafort. They use hush money to hide their skeletons.

Eventually they are found out. And when exposed the people who looked the other way shrug and justify their willful ignorance with "everybody does it."

Trump has limits, he has to follow guidelines and laws . A Bezos , a Gates , an Arabian oil sheik doesn’t , and their wealth is somewhat like our budget it’s mind boggling . Trump isn’t in stratosphere. Don’t get me wrong the charities that these people give huge amounts of their wealth to are good things , they help people around the world . That being said .. money and power are the things that history is written about , it topples nations and corrupts good men and women . The ones we are talking about are at the top of the list for our planets most wealthy and most powerful men . I would argue that with Gates money and Bezos money there’s nothing they couldn’t have done around the world if they so chose . I’m always extremely leery of people with unlimited wealth . ( That’s just me ) . I am not for any caps on making money or a “ sin “ tax just because you have wealth . It’s hard to imagine the rate at which some accrue money ...

They can’t do what trump, or any president, can do today. And his comments on vaccines are spot on once you read the context.
