States opening? States opening?

I thought they were all open when this was accepted as OK.

So... you don't support people rising up in anger because a black man was murdered in plain view in public? SMH.

You'll notice, btw, that many if not most people at the BLM rallies wore masks. Meanwhile, back in the White House...

No social distancing , not all of them had masks ...a virus doesn’t care about your cause ...it’s hypocrisy .

Medical evidence shows a disproportionate affect to black people. Likely connected to vitamin D.

Try shutting down states again and see how that goes. It will make the last three weeks of protests pale by comparison. Can't just drive people to permanent bankruptcy and have the govt. try and backstop 300M + people. Continue to distance, wear masks, sanitize/wash hands, keep testing and let this play out.

Some states are still shut down.

Imo a huge issue being ignored. The numbers are ridiculously high for this

We need to discuss strengthening immune systems rather than accepting it as normal. Just because things like vit D deficiency, diabetes, high BP, obesity, etc are common doesn't mean they should be normalized

I have a problem with it considering some of these same states were enforcing rules against gatherings of 10 or more, banning church services, etc. And people who objected were shamed.

If you don’t see the fundamental problem with this then you’re beyond help.

Problem, humans.

We are a fat and lazy country for a reason, survival is a word not known here. People can say different, but, we have had it too good for too long and we have become weak and immune to the natural world and natural laws that dominate the planet.

And, good luck talking to anyone about changing, this is the epitome of our country right now:
fast food ain't good enough......I can't even motivate myself to get off my butt....... bring it to my lazy arse.

People are zombies, and reality is they are living in fake world of internet and iphones and ipads and doing nothing, but, growing more incapable of being capable.

I've talked to people about it and seen a few change. A couple years ago I lost a lot of weight so people sought me out. Many said it was too hard but some actually did the work and it paid off

My doctor being blunt was helpful to me. He basically told me all health issues I had were related to being fat (his word). It mattered

Yeah how come our testing for a virus we'd never seen wasn't running at 100% capacity a month in to a pandemic? Someone needs to be fired!

There are very legitimate complaints to be made about our ability to ramp testing in this country. We messed up.

But that was a story in late Feb and March. It was written a long time ago and hasn’t been an issue for some time.

Also we are around that 2 week incubation period in Minnesota when the rioting started. How are their numbers looking. I would argue at least half if not more of the people there weren't wearing a mask. Having it around your ears hanging under your chin isn't wearing it

Self awareness and understanding and perspective, self control, these are things becoming less with people. Unless you have a real physical disorder, people only need to look in the mirror.

As always, the hardest thing for humans and their ego, super ego, and ID to do and accept.

It's part of the culture. It's not worth it to people to fix themselves. Until that changes they wont.

I got tired of not being able to do things that I should. Not even the crazy running 7 miles a day. Just being able to run 1 mile without ruining my next two or three days is what I wanted.

Also most people try to do everything at once. Change their diet, start working out, all at the same time. That's a lot for a body to adjust too, and it sucks, and they quit.

I also gave up a 20+ yr tobacco habit in the same year. I was a joy to live with 😁

This is interesting and is totally contrary to what we've been fed up to this point:

How many times have we been warned "no one has any natural immunity to this."

I agree that the number of asymptomatic individuals does not seem consistent with no natural immunity. I don’t know if it actually helps our T cell response or if it is just a primed natural immunity. But I’m suspicious that herd immunity might come faster than the 60-70% we’ve discussed.

Eff that. You are/were more driven than I am. I have to baby step it. Luckily I can see and play the long game.
Throat cancer scare and then a night in the hospital with severe chest pains. Both were false alarms but I need major wake up calls to change. Both caused an immediate lifestyle change the very next morning but without those events I may still be doing the same old thing. Kids also played a role

This is what's driving me crazy. I recognize that "hospitalizations and deaths are lagging indicators," but these riots began in Minneapolis and spread throughout the country four weeks ago at this point. We've seen around 197k "new cases" over the last week, compared to 140k cases four weeks ago, but the uptick in case count is clear while deaths are heading in the opposite direction by decreasing to rather low levels. Even with "lag," I'd expect to see deaths increasing right now if this disease were something about which most people should remain concerned and that simply isn't the case.

They are likely younger people getting infected. Their hospitalization rate is about a third of older adults and deaths even lower

I understand what you're saying, and it makes sense. BUT, from a pragmatic point of view, what are you going to do? Arrest people for protesting? Insanity. That would have resulted in a HUGE number of very destructive riots IMO.

Conversely, Trump knowingly and willfully flaunts the advice of his own administration. Why? Why would he hold a rally in a closed arena with no social distancing and no masks?

The answer is obvious. And there's a stark difference between the two. If you don't see that, then you're beyond help yourself.
