Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Not sure why you quoted that. Some docs advise wearing masks, some dont. At least according to posters here.

You can talk about the media all you want. Dont watch them if you dont agree. I'm talking about individual interactions.

I havent seen you criticizing anyone for wearing a facemask so my comment isn't directed at you. Its hypocritical for those that make not wearing a mask a big personal freedom issue while criticizing people that choose to wear them. No need to tell a lady in a grocery store parking lot that she is a sheep.

I thought we were talking in generalities. I didn’t specifically say you .

I didn't say it was "bad news" but it certainly isn't good news either. Lets just say it's troubling

I wouldn’t even say troubling. This is what it is. It’s a virus. This happens. At risk folks isolating is responsible and good. Everyone else needs to get on with life.

These spikes shouldn’t even be news.

When not wearing masks and not social distancing has resulted in positive cases, it certainly should be part of the news. That has happened

And no, everyone else still needs to wear a mask and/or social distance. It's not "life as usual'

Berea.

I would be more impressed by you if your reading comprehension skills were a little more advanced. I don’t see how you came to the conclusion that I would get violent over some Karen bitching about me not wearing a mask.

Again, the tone of your posts can be overly aggressive to borderline violent. Maybe you don't realize it, but there a lot of anger in some of the things you say. If I am wrong, I apologize to you.

In the latest US News Best Liberal Arts Colleges, Sewanee was #43 and Berea was #46. I'd say our educations were very much alike.

Are you using "everyone" in the literal sense or are you speaking in generalities?

I can think of some folks who don't need to wear or social distance.

Those living together probably don't need to wear them WHEN AROUND ONE ANOTHER
Generalities, then.

There a few more instances I can think of off the top of my head.

You're familiar with the phrase 'exit strategy'. At what point will you support daily life getting back to pre-pandemic norms (no masks, no discussion of social distancing)? Or, is masking and SD here to stay regardless?

There will be a time in 1-2 years when all goes back to "normal", but I believe people will have a more responsibility about washing hands, personal hygiene, etc........

Why why why why?!?!?

What does social distancing do? What are we trying to prevent?

Hospitalization overload? That turned out to be nothing burger last go around.

At risk folks getting it? Anyone half responsible that is at risk is quarantining anyway.

Why should it be news because of not social distancing? What is the news angle and purpose here?

You know what we are seeing? A virus. That’s it. And it turns out not an especially dangerous or lethal one at that.

This is news ratings and fear mongering. When digging more than 6 inches below the surface a reasonable person should be asking themselves, “what they hell is going on here?”

No, we don’t. If I’m about to patronize an establishment that requires masks, I will gladly wear one while inside and take it off as soon as I exit.

You act as if you know me, but trust me, you don’t.
Same here. Private business is allowed to set the rules. I can follow or go somewhere else.

Liberty!

LOL you haven’t been in many truck stops have you ? Americans have short attention spans . If huge red signs on the door , above the urinals , on the back of the stall doors and above the sinks can’t get people to wash their hands .. a forgotten virus when things are normal won’t convince them .

Let me make sure I don't assume something you didn't intend.

You are proposing going another 1-2 years with current guidelines for masks and SD? Or, you can see how it will simply take that long to return to prepandemic behavior?

The truth is that people who do catch this virus fall into one of two categories:

1) .03% who are elderly, have underlying conditions etc who become really sick and that require hospitalization. Of THOSE patients, only about .01% die

2) more than 99% either never get sick or get mildly sick and get better without the need for any medical care

There is a certain logic to Trump's claims about testing. If you test and find out facts, then you will know facts.

LOL......when not social distancing and not wearing a mask can be directly linked to someone getting it, I would say it certainly should be part of the news. I do agree that everyday numbers don't need to be part of it

What I find funny is much of your post is exactly the opposite of what our infectious disease experts are telling us. They don't know but you do?

It has been 50 times more lethal than the flu but still only about 5% that get it are dying of it
