Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Not at all. But I want better than what Fauci is giving us. What has he ever said that was helpful or profound? I can't think of anything. He's flip flopped on wearing masks and sending the kids to school. He tells us a lot of maybes like maybe we'll get a vaccine, maybe we won't. Maybe we'll have a second spike, maybe we won't. We might have this virus around forever.

Hell, we can get such profound statements from folks here at VN

You are aware that this virus was virtually unknown 8 months ago correct? That during that time period, a massive amount of research and data collection has occurred right? You don't think that some assumptions are going to be proven wrong, and some correct by an increased understanding of the virus and how it affects the human body? Would you rather all scientists and doctors stick with incorrect assumptions instead of adjusting their professional opinion based on new data?

I'll take that as a "no" answer to my question. That's OK. I can't think of anything either

I can guarantee if Biden wins in November, democrats won't get a 2nd term.
awww.....you sound like 1 term mitch mcconnel. You probably said the same thing about President Obama. Are you saying Biden will do an even worse job than donald? Or will you be the vocal minority demanding that Biden fix what donald and the gop destroyed.....and fix it now.

What destroyed everything was long lasting lock downs. Which was done out of fear. Which was mainly driven by deaths. Which was mainly driven by certain Governors from a certain party sending sick people to nursing homes.

are they sending sick people to nursing homes in FL, GA, AZ, and TX?

Oh let’s play a fun game. Look at the deaths per 100,000 residents and tell me who is doing a better job? You want to place a bet as to who had less deaths per 100,000 when this is over?
Ummmm....it's not over.....you know deaths come AFTER infections and AFTER hospitalizations. So you may want to wait on spiking the football and doing your end zone dance.

I voted for Obama his second term. I don't allow others to think for me. I will not vote for Biden this year due to his policy and mental health decline, (highly doubt he serves the full term).

Unlike you, and your far left compadres, I respect the POTUS no matter who holds office, regardless if he wasn't who i voted for. President Trump has done both a lot of wrong and a lot of good the past 4 years, but to blame him for every single thing that goes wrong is a cop-out that shows either how ignorant you are, or how much of a self centered narcissistic child you are.

If Biden wins, and he has a good chance, I will still respect the office he holds, pray everyday that he does a good job, and gladly hope and admit I was wrong about him. Have a good day and stay safe.

that is kind of morbid to bet on the demise of others. Kind of creepy to be spiking the football over deaths. But we can wager to admit right or wrong.
I am hoping that New York is going to prove what other evidence suggests. That once around 15% of your population is infected then Herd Immunity starts to kick in. And if that’s the case we should all be ashamed at how we handled this.

Side note: You sure as heck were spiking the political football on this thing. Blaming the GOP for the carnage. But the stats don’t back you up on this. Not at all. Those can change for sure.

It's the nature of science for conclusions to change when dealing with an unknown. Sorry, but you just don't get it

I don't think some of you realize how shut down things are in NY. In NY City you still can't go to a restaurant with the recent exception of a few outdoor areas. Bars and many other things are still closed. Of course their C19 numbers are down. The trick is how to keep them down while pumping up the economy

A balance like sweden took?

Even if we couldnt have done that in our biggest cities, we probably could have in about 95% of the country. Locked down the big cities and moved on.
What about Sweden is a success story, to you guys? They’re doing even worse than we are by any measure of the virus. What economic indicators are you looking at to say it’s been worth it for them?

Italy's economy project at minus 11%.

Virus Hit to Sweden’s Economy Seen Among Least Bad in Europe

Not the same source so take with some salt.

If you wanted more of a comparison I would think you would have to look at percentage import vs export for various countries. I have no idea where they sit on trade dependency vs self supporting. Obviously tourism is shot all to pieces. The first article was saying Greece may be higher than Italy in losses.

The main thing is they have kept things open. So any losses are natural, instead of government mandated losses like we are seeing over here to go on top of what would have already been losses. For us pro Captialism folks the source of a loss matters, a lot.
