Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Yeah I knew that too and I live right on the border of South Carolina and it is fine where I’m at..... I was giving him the benefit of the doubt bc he said he worked in myrtle beach and tourist spots are hit harder. That being said it looks like they could easily move people around with the amount of beds they have available....Hospitals generally try to stay at a higher capacity than what they are in South Carolina or they don’t make a profit.
Even Myrtle isn't at full capacity, he also made it sounds like the hospitals were overflowing with covid patients and that is 100% bullsh!t

Yeah I was calling BS on it too but decided not to say anything bc I’m not there and don’t know for sure what it’s like at individual hospitals... I can only truly speak for the ones I am associated with.... The hospitals are fine but the SNF are struggling and I’m afraid that may get worse.

Numbers are going down in South Carolina
Total Hospital Bed Occupancy (COVID-19) | SCDHEC

In terms of hospital usage in SC the numbers tell a much different story than what you are saying
Total hospital beds:12,601
Total Beds in use: 8261
ICU Beds: 1461
ICU Beds in use: 1116
ICU %: 76%
Ventilators available: 1568
Ventilators actually being used: 514

Here's where I'm going to blow your story all to hell

Total Covid Patients in hospitals in SC right now: 1366 which only is taking up 16% of the hospital beds
Total Covid Patients in ICU: 333 which only make up 24% of the ICU beds
Total Covid Patients on Ventilators: 206 which only make up 15%

Quit spreading lies to instill fear, I'm so sick and tired of this.

You are accusing this person of lying because why again?

Are you disputing the claim of their hospital being swamped and over 100% capacity?

Jesus dude.

Because his claim that sick people are everywhere when Covid patients only make up 16% of the hospital beds being used. Those are the numbers, facts or science whatever you guys like to point out. Sorry that made your Rona boner go away but the numbers tell a completely different story. Hospitals are ALWAYS overcrowded, ER's stay maxed out especially those that arent private. Where do you think people without insurance go? The hospital because they can't be refused service. What else is going on in a coastal town right now? hmmmmmmmmmmm vacation maybe? So is hospital use up there? probably but it's not due to people with covid or "sick" people everywhere as the OP said.

Jesus dude

You showed your ass, and you want to double down, rather than show some support for someone on front lines of healthcare.

Again, what claim are you disputing, while accusing this person of "spreading lies"?

I'm tired of people speaking in half truths to push an agenda....

The numbers dispute EVERYTHING he said, EVERYTHING.

I respect everyone in that profession but not the ones lying.

ER's being overcrowded is far from a new thing

I'm disputing their story that "sick people" are everywhere and they're overrun with covid. That is complete and total BS

Two thoughts for the evening.
1) I have no idea who fueled the widespread use of the phrase “virtue signaling,” but it grates on me like no term has since “curating.”
2) Our health system is well over 100% capacity in all units, with ICUs at 125% capacity. In simple terms, that means we have more patients than beds and that we’re holding critically ill patients in the ER because there’s no room in the ICU. It’s been this way for weeks. Our staff is exhausted. And the sick patients just keep coming.

You guys jumped all over this, you even checked the numbers because you posted the exact same link I did but you didn't look at the number of people in the hospitals with actual Covid which disputes this

Also, I'm disputing this
It’s been between 17 and 22 percent for weeks. In the last couple of weeks, there’s been a time or two it’s dropped down. I think it was 12% one day. But that was a complete outlier. We’ve been right in the 20% range for at least a month - probably longer. I’m too tired to look it up. Work is just exhausting these days.
This paints a picture of things not getting better but lets look at the same numbers off the state website

Covid peaked on July 18th and has been in steady decline ever since

Still doubling down. Where is the claim that their hospital is overrun with "COVID patients"?

You are calling someone a liar, and can't back up that claim... why don't you just apologize?

I'm not apologizing, wording is everything. He came into the thread about covid and said there were sick people everywhere and they kept coming. That is a half truth and agenda driven. I'm not apologizing but please keep defending this behavior

So, their hospital is at 100%+ and COVID admissions has undoubtedly created the problem. They are having to use the ER where otherwise a person would be admitted. They are swamped and exhausted.

Doesn't surprise me that when someone gives a first-hand account you would just as soon crap on them and accuse them of lying (suspect wording), rather than say a kind word.

It really says a lot

No it says more about you for getting excited about the information vs researching it.

Again, only 15% of those hospitalized have covid. And state hospitals at at 78% capacity and I'm also curious about that 15% and how many are in the hospital for other reasons and just happened to test positive.

Hospitals are ALWAYS chaos, there are ALWAYS nurse shortages and theyre always overworked this is nothing new due to covid. You just have a reason to use this reasoning now.
