Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

This "fake" plandemic will miraculously end after the election.

No matter what your opinion of the virus is... the narrative will change after the election. It isn't just Trump. For at least the last 5 Presidential elections, the media has created a narrative that hurt the GOP candidate that disappeared after the election.

Last time, they tried to play race. BLM seemed to everywhere... or at least on every newscast airing their grievances. That disappeared after the election only to make a sudden comeback this year. The story leading up to W's two races included "body bags". We were treated to constant daily body counts for American soldiers. After Obama won... those deaths didn't stop. The narrative did.

We don’t have any covid patients here yet but I have heard rumor that the transfer building is full so unless they come up with a different plan.... we will be keeping some in my building soon.... What state are you in now?
Still in Virginia, Richmond more specifically. I arrive Sunday afternoon and come home Wed morning. I like my new digs. I'm actually working with critical care pts again.

I'll help you with your skepticism:

The research involved 100,000 people testing themselves at home for coronavirus antibodies between June 20 and July 13. The government said there is no firm evidence that antibodies provide immunity.

There was no breakthrough on the quest for a home antibody test for general use among the public. Separate studies, also unveiled on Thursday, evaluated a range of finger-prick home antibody tests but found the results were not reliable enough to be given government approval for widespread use, officials said. The tests were still deemed to be suitable for surveillance studies such as the Imperial research.

See no “scientists say” so it’s junk.

Do you even realize that this link shows the original statement...

2) Our health system is well over 100% capacity in all units, with ICUs at 125% capacity. In simple terms, that means we have more patients than beds and that we’re holding critically ill patients in the ER because there’s no room in the ICU. It’s been this way for weeks. Our staff is exhausted. And the sick patients just keep coming.

...is utter fabricated BS?

At first I was thinking well maybe it is a small rural hospital that is getting hit hard...but no...he is talking about the healthcare system. EVEN IF he is talking about his hospital, the link you provided shows, again, that hospital is an outlier to the total aggregated data. Overall they are at about 75% utilization with about 25% being COVID.

This fear peddling **** and agenda filled drivel is getting really ****ing old. I guarantee if people were dying because lack of hospital beds and nurses and doctors were dropping dead of exhaustion the media would be there by the hundreds with cameras rolling.

BTW - whatever happened to 7% mortality guy that is on the front lines battling this?

A few days ago, we were literally being told to go seek anecdotes from people actually treating the virus because the statistics were subject to revision and didn’t tell the whole story.

Somebody posts an anecdote that mirrors what I’ve been told by MD and NP friends and suddenly the “go get anecdotes” people are that are saying anecdotes are invalidated by the state numbers.

The hypocrisy goes both ways.

That isn't me. But as long as you realize your hypocrisy and the worthlessness of anecdotes like our friend here portraying SC as struggling to treat people, then all is good.

7% guy doesnt show up very much lately.

Last time he did, he lied and said he never stated that.

Question. Do physicians do annual titre testing for required tests?
No. Pregnant women are screened for Hep B and Rubella. Titers to vaccinations (strep pneumoniae, diphtheria, and tetanus) can be used to assess for immunodeficiency. Antibody testing is useful for mononucleosis , HIV, hepatitis, and to rule out hep C transmission in exposed newborns. Also, convalescent titers are useful when evaluating for rickettsial/tick-borne infections.

See no “scientists say” so it’s junk.

I didn't say it was junk. And of course those performing the study are scientists.

But if we are talking details about the accuracy of the study, it appears that the actual infection rate and sampling size are important factors.

I'm not one to reject scientific data, but I do like to look the details of the data... but I'm also not pretending to fully understand what I'm seeing in this article:

warning: it has the word "science" in the URL

Coronavirus Antibody Tests Have a Mathematical Pitfall

So, referring to the county's "system", even "regional system" is peddling a lie?

You are trying too hard to discredit their account. Every subsequent question was answered and clarified as to the scope, but you want to talk about "outliers" which has been shown to not be the case in the region.

But please keep talking about "outliers" and attempt to ridicule me for defending someone, just sharing information, from being an outright liar.

Serious question - do you really not understand or are you just trolling at this point?

Yes - it absolutely is the case. If that hospital or system or whatever verbiage you are using is at 100% capacity and 125% ICU utilization - it is the very definition of an outlier within the state. The personal account is either a lie, or an outlier by the data YOU posted.

Either way, lier or outlier, it is fear peddling. This is all f***ing ridiculous.

You are applying the statement to the state, solely based on your own interpretation. Your perspective does not negate that of the observer.

Last night 3 of those 5 counties were at 100% and another nearly the same. Now one is back in the 90's again.

Try taking that as a good thing and accentuate the positive rather than telling someone what they really intended, while accusing them of the intent of misleading.

You guys very well have got what you wanted, in not having to hear the first-person accounts from the poster.

Yeah, you just feigned concern about hypocrisy and then ignored it from the people pushing the agenda you agree with.

I bet there’s a word for that, too. Might even be the same word.

Scientists say the coronavirus is at least as deadly as the 1918 flu pandemic

The coronavirus is at least as deadly as the 1918 flu pandemic and the death toll could even be worse if world leaders and public health officials fail to adequately contain it, researchers warned in a study published Thursday in the medical journal JAMA Network Open.

“What we want people to know is that this has 1918 potential,” lead author Dr. Jeremy Faust said in an interview, adding the outbreak in New York was at least 70% as bad as the one in 1918 when doctors didn’t have ventilators or other advances to help save lives like they do today. “This is not something to just shrug off like the flu.”

Researchers compared excess deaths in New York City during the peak of the 1918 pandemic with those during the first few months of the Covid-19 outbreak. They used public data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the U.S. Census Bureau to conduct their analysis.
Lol. Math says otherwise.

650k+ dead in a year out of 103 million. Adjusted for Covid timeframe (2/3) that's 450k in 8 months. =.4%

165k+dead in 8 months (2/3) of 330 million = .05%

And I like that the WORST of Covid compared to the AVERAGE of Spanish Flu is only 70%. And somehow just as deadly?

And what they dont tell you is the Spanish flu hit the healthy just as much as the at risk.

Simple math says this is a bs headline pushing an angle.

Well, we are making progress. You are admitting, in a roundabout way, that it is in fact an anecdote and not overall reality. It also sounds like you agree, in the total state aggregate, it is an outlier, if true. No?

I only said that she is lying or her experience is an outlier. I'll even go with it is true and it is an outlier....fine. I don't know her and have no reason to believe she would lie. But the apocalyptic wording of her post is fear peddling nonsense.

Sure if we don't apply system to mean the nation or even state, then there is nothing to disagree about.

And we can agree that perspective is key, without suggesting that she is a liar.

Sounds wrapped up.

I didn't feign anything.

From the very beginning - and you can read back through my posts - my view has been this is something to be concerned about, but not scared about, treatment and healthcare should be between the doctor and patient and Trump should have never brought up HCQ because all it did is politicize it, the scientist and doctors should be listened too about science and health but economic decisions should not be given to them, and we should look at the data as a whole to make decisions as a whole.

I further believe the press has caused immeasurably more harm than good and 95% of what you read on CNN, FOX, MSNBC, CBS, etc - is agenda filled BS.

Trump should STFU and the press should report only the facts with appropriate context.

What about that any of that is hypocritical or unreasonable?

Maybe everyone should STFU, why just pick on one?
