Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I know first hand where a worker entered the work place with a positive test and didn’t quarantine. A fine for wanton disregard??
Consider what you're proposing. Do we really want to give 'The State' power to fine when a viral positive person is behaving badly? Would that fine sunset once Covid is relegated to one-of-many viruses which make their way through our society cyclically?

Personal protection and prevention is the only way for any individual to lower their risk. Your risk isn't lowered because someone else will pay a fine for wanton disregard.

Exactly right. And after your post there really isn't a need for anymore posts in this thread because you my friend nailed it.

Not exactly. Any post that doesn't mention hospital capacity and staffing hasn't nailed it and covered the entire story. The issue with this virus is whether it's overwhelming our health system. Of course the media is lax in reporting the important numbers such as hospital beds and ventilators. They rarely mention discharges from the hospital. In this major Ohio newspaper they talked about all the alarming numbers of C19 and then in the 14th paragraph they mention this:

With discharges, the number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals statewide dropped by 90 to 5,108 on Thursday amid 452 new admissions. The number of COVID-19 victims requiring inpatient care has increased 30% over the past three weeks.

Gov. Mike DeWine extends COVID-19 curfew to Jan. 2

High C19 numbers isn't news. We know that. What's news is that the hospitalizations actually went down. One has to really dig to find such numbers

I don't want to live in a place where the government can.
You against traffic laws?
while I normally feel the same way I’m sick of Trumpers telling us this is a hoax and acting out stupidly at the peril of others. This virus is real. It will kill, and I have elderly family I’d rather not die needlessly. I’m just as concerned with these Bubbas as I am with the Bernie Marxist.

Is there data which proves traffic laws save lives or prevent accidents?

The virus is deadly in a extremely narrow band of the population. The best defense for your elderly family members is common sense and normal precautions.

If you are under 60, and have no underlying issues, shut up and go to work. Anyone with symptoms should stay home. If that's not agreeable to you find a new job. The rest of the country doesn't need to lose their job bc you are scared to go to yours.
I keep pressing LIKE but it only toggles between like and unlike😥

Probably not 'cause there's no place that bans traffic laws. Get real. I'll grant you that many traffic laws are set up to generate revenue but it's also good for society not to have people driving 120 mph on the road and ignoring traffic signals. Has the power ever gone out in your neighborhood? How did it effect traffic? When our traffic lights are out it slows traffic through those intersections considerably.

If we do that, who do we borrow from as we run a deficit every year?

We'll do what we've been doing. We'll print more money. Mind you, I'm not saying that's a good thing. I'd much prefer we spend w/i our means but it's preferable to the Chinese owning us

Actually we're more in a position to screw them. We can say no, we're not paying you back sucker.

So we will destroy our borrowing credibility to default from debt on purpose. Who buys the note for our newly printed money now then?

You've assumed correlation. If traffic laws are effective at reducing deaths and accidents, the data should be easy to obtain.

Here are some morsels on which to masticate:

High speed roads (Germany, Montana) exist and the data of accidents and deaths per capita can be compared.
Traffic signals which lose power effect traffic flow/efficiency. Are accidents more or less frequent? What about deaths?
I don't have traffic my neighborhood. I live out in the sticks.
