The Russian helicopter pilot who endured lethal radiation levels to contain the Chernobyl disaster has died after contracting coronavirus.

General Nikolai Antoshkin, who was 78, died in his home country last Sunday.

He commanded an operation to seal off the number 4 reactor at the Chernobyl power station just outside the town Pripyat in Ukraine, which was then part of the Soviet Union, after it exploded in 1986 following a huge power surge.

I gotta say when that explosion occured, those guys that went in where about as brave as folk you will ever see. Cant believe anybody survived this long.

True, but to the point of spiting one's own prosperity, law, and freedom? I just cannot believe that only a few years after 911 and support for the NYPD that the electorate elected someone who disrepected the NYPD so much. They were heroes and suddenly became villians?

It's just common sense to wear a mask in any form of shared transit. The only reason a person would not and complain is in some shared identity to the nonsense that was Trump's idiotic claim that the virus is no biggie.
