The numbers have as much to do with getting through the holidays as anything.FYI yesterday I said my SWAG for total immunity in the US was 50% (had Covid or vaccinated). Goldman Sachs has a prediction at 47%

Kroger announces that they'll still require masks in Texas
Do you still need a mask in Kroger in Texas and Mississippi stores?
That's fine. That decision should be up to the private business, but this also gives an opportunity for a lesser grocery store to garner some of Kroger's customers who might prefer to go to a store that doesn't make them mask up. Freedom of choice. That's the American way
It's too early to know anything for sure, but no, I do not think CV19 will resemble seasonal influenza in the future.Isn't Covid 19 essentially going to be like cold and flu in the future? It will pass through seasonally and there will be vaccination but if a different variant infects you, then you will get sick. Is this not where we are headed with the virus in the long term future?
@kiddiedoc
Thanks to mutations, recombinations, and viral drift around the world, vaccination for flu is always a guessing game, and immunity to one strain does not offer great protection from another.
In b4 @evillawyer posts a Vox article refuting your influenza informationIt's too early to know anything for sure, but no, I do not think CV19 will resemble seasonal influenza in the future.
Influenza viruses are of four different types: A, B, C, and D. Only A and B cause serious illness in humans. The A viruses all have an "H" and "N" glycoprotein subtype. There are 16 known distinct hemagglutinin glycoproteins and 9 of the neuraminidase -- so a total of 144 possible combinations. The B viruses are less diverse and much less likely to result in pandemic spread. Thanks to mutations, recombinations, and viral drift around the world, vaccination for flu is always a guessing game, and immunity to one strain does not offer great protection from another.
Thus far, even the "variants" of CV19 have similarities in the spike protein, so we haven't seen widespread "escape" from the immunity offered by natural infection or vaccination. Of course, we do not know how long either natural or vaccine-acquired immunity will persist, although studies have clearly shown at least 6-8 months of protection after infection. Other studies have suggested that immunity to other known CVs might last for years. We certainly hope this holds true for CV19.
You realize people are still free to wear a mask, right?
He isnt mandating you cant wear a mask.....
I see a travel ban from people from TX to garden spots like NY, NJ and IL. I would have included CA, but they have a net outflow of their people to TX not the other way around.The Left Melts Down As Texas, Mississippi Free People And Businesses From COVID Restrictions
Texas and Mississippi removing the mask mandates God bless texas and Mississippi
My youngin has been in school since August or September here in Florida. No issues. Not even a notice of infection in his class.I heard an interview with the Gov of Mississippi this morning - he stated that about 95% of kids have been in school since August. You'd think if schools were unsafe then Mississippi would have tons of dead and sick kids and teachers. Doesn't appear to be the case.
For those freaking out about Texas - not really much change most businesses were already at 75% capacity
Is Greg Abbott Inviting Disaster in Texas by Lifting COVID-19 Restrictions?
