Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I was rather specific. That those susceptible to infection or otherwise immunocompromised be allowed to lock down during the period of the outbreak without loss of wages or employment.
For how long? Who pays the wages/insurance? Now that we know there is a chance that the world loses it's mind again, perhaps those at risk should carry pandemic insurance.

Would those of you not in support of lockdowns be in support of protections for the immunocompromised to prevent them from losing their jobs or wages in the event of another pandemic type event?

No.

Those who can work from home, work from home. Those who can't should be given appropriate work by their employer that can be done at home. If the employer cannot provide that work, they must continue to pay and employ the worker until such time as work can be provided or the employee can return.

And I use my mom's definition of what to do when compromised: no grocery store, no ball games, don't be seen outside. Enjoy your delivery. If you muck up and post on Tweety or Facezine about your trip to Cancun while you're quarantining, bye bye job.

Forcing an employer to compensate an employee unable to work is theft.

What you promote is a form of death penalty. That doesn't sound pro-life to me. Maybe you meant you're pro-birth?
That's a ginormous leap there.

What's stopping you or other immune compromised from living off the land secluded from others? Setting up your own communes and living away from others?

Your death penalty looks exactly like a first world problem.

So I would submit this could come under the umbrella of short or long term disability which is a share paid benefit by company and employee. That’s the closest I’d see that it lines up with currently.

Am I in favor of making employers pay employees to sit home? No. Hell no even. Am I ok with expanding the available services to deal with long term sickness and disability to cover something like this? Sure let the insurance industry figure it out.

Edit: and @LouderVol beats me to the draw.

In what way would you recommend we ensure the ill and immunocompromised are protected to survive another pandemic-like event without suffering financial catastrophe?

I would recommend they build savings, find employment that they can work from home. Take some personal responsibility and prepare for the possibility.

Well the US does have a history of rounding up subgroups and putting them in camps or secluding them on reservations to get rid of them. It would be the Patriotic thing, right?

There we go! Now we're moving in the right direction. Ideas!

I am a problem solver. I'm not bound by any ideology. As a small business owner I know full well that if an employee had to miss time last yr due to C19 contact tracing or whatever, that employer qualified for a two week tax credit for that employee's salary

You need to ask hog about free healthcare if you really want to get a reaction from him!

Not 1 single employee of mine missed a paycheck during this mess. 1 spent over a month in the hospital in NM he got paid well beyond the time we were compensated for. We flew his wife out and set her up in a hotel with a rental car and meals for about 3 weeks. It was a choice to do that, I’m against taking choices away.

You're a good man for doing that too.
