The case fatality rate in your armpit of a state is higher than FL. The death rate as a percentage of population is higher in your state than FL. And one of the two states has infinitely more outsiders crossing its state lines everyday, potentially bringing the virus with them, and it’s not yours.lol ok. Gov Ron DeathSantis.
Update: Still on ventilator. Not improving but not getting worse. Doctors seem concerned there is no improvement. Have tried to lay him on his back a couple of times and oxygen levels tank. Those of you who pray please say a little prayer for my cousin. In his late 30's, not fully vaxxed, was put on ventilator today due to pneumonia and partially collapsed lung. He has two children both under 10.
Get the one dose vax if possible , I got it a month ago and no side effects or waiting on a second doseMy wife and I, maybe my daughter, will be going to get the vaccine. I urge everybody to talk to their doctor or nurse practitioner and make the decision that's best for you weighing the information we have available.
If you choose not to get the vaccine please protect yourself with isolation and when you can't, mask up please. Be safe everyone, I think this is about to get worse based on the info about a new strain.
I think it's pretty clear this isn't a normal virus, they typically don't behave like this do they? I thought they typically got weaker.
Yes. Until HIT happens through natural immunity and vaccination we will continue to have variants. How bad those variants are we have no clue. This is basic science. So we can stop acting like it's a surprise or nonsense. It's factual and predictable. It would also be nice if we stopped pretending like each variant is the end of the world.Osterholm: ‘We Have to Be Prepared’ for Next COVID Variant — Likely ‘Worse’ than Delta
Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy director and former Biden’s transition team adviser Dr. Michael Osterholm said Wednesday on CNN’s “The Lead” that the coronavirus pandemic could get a “worse” variant after the current Delta wave.
Guest-host Pamela Brown said, “We started this conversation, talking about just how quickly this pandemic changes and why messaging has to change so quickly. That is largely because new variants can come about. Today Dr. Fauci said a variant worse than Delta could be coming. You warned the next variant could be, quote, ‘Delta on steroids.’ What do you mean by that?”
Osterholm said, “Well, basically the variants that we’re concerned about in terms of their increased risk to humans have one of three characteristics or all three. One is they’re more infectious, which we know Delta is substantially more infectious even than Alpha which that by itself was more infectious. Number two that they can cause more severe illness just related to the question you just asked about does it cause more severe illness for the number of people who are infected? And number three, does it have a way of evading immune protection? Does it somehow get around the vaccines or get around the protection you get from natural infection? And any one of those three characteristics could make another variant worse.”

That’s like these athletes at the Olympics. They wear a mask while standing on the podium but then take them off for the photo ops while standing in the exact same place! And you know they weren’t wearing masks when they were hugging and high-fiving following their event. It makes zero sense. Why is it a stupid question? Is Pelosi not in the Capitol while she’s taking swearing in photos, maskless? The stupider question is why are they allowed to remove masks while recognized on the House floor? Is one more likely to spread it while speaking incessantly for 10 min or while sitting idly at their desk simply breathing?
How about swimming in the same pool, gulping and spitting out common water? That’s like these athletes at the Olympics.
