Btw, according to the latest numbers crunched by my professional assn's research consortium with CU Boulder, speaking or singing in a room with no mask for an hour carries only a 1 in ~240,000 chance of infection. As I have asked this entire time, what is the metric of acceptability? If the government wants to hold people to a standard they need to set it.

Watched a documentary on that long struggle not too long ago...men were literally losing their minds..up there in sad military battles with Okinawa. I couldn't imagine that kind of horror day after day for weeks or even months

When Trumpets Fade was a movie that came out the same year as Saving private Ryan and got overshadowed but provides a glimps at the horror and the waste of human life that battle was. Not the greatest film but a pretty solid watch

Can't tell you how many times Kiddiedoc said we're on the cusp of herd immunity. Back in the summer of 2020 he was advocating for letting coronavirus just spread naturally across society (while protecting the elderly -- because we all know that you can hermetically seal nursing homes and ensure the coronavirus doesn't rip through them).

The continual mantra of framing this as a war, we're all soldiers, we have "duty", etc. is a bit much for my taste. I realize our country hasn't had a full blown shooting war in 50 years but let's stop romanticizing wearing a mask to Kroger is basically the same as dropping into Holland.

You limit the mutations by limiting the spread. We know how we can do that, but half the country won't get their damn Fauci ouchie.

The virus should continue to mutate to be more transmissible, but there is no reason for it to become more deadly (unless one of the mutations that allows it to be more transmissible has the side effect of making it more deadly as well). Ceteris paribus, becoming more deadly is not a good evolutionary strategy.

I'm not comparing the nature of the bad things (war, disease) at all. I'm just noting that in terms of the human toll, this is bad, and we should be taking all reasonable steps to stop it
