Anybody heard from @ohhbother ? How you feeling sister? Hope you are doing well and over the hump.

Hi guys. I’m doing well. The fatigue reminds me of having mono, but otherwise I’m symptom-free. I’m grateful that I had access to the vaccine and to monoclonal antibody treatment - I feel like they both helped me fight this thing off.

We actually lost an employee at our organization to COVID-19 yesterday. She was just a year older than I am. It really hit home how blessed I am to have had a mild disease course. With my asthma and weight, the outcome could have been different.

So thanks for checking on me. I lurk more than I post here, so it made me smile to know my fellow Vols fans were thinking of me.

Glad to hear you’re ok and so sorry to hear about your coworker. Just mend up and get well

HHS Diverting Millions In Funding Marked For Vaccine Efforts To Housing Migrant Children

FIRST ON FOX: The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has notified Congress that it will transfer an additional $589 million, some of which comes from funding marked for COVID-19 vaccination efforts, to its program to shelter unaccompanied migrant children who have entered the U.S. at the southern border -- part of more than $4 billion that has been diverted to the program this year.

HHS informed Congress that it is diverting $225 million in National Institute of Health (NIH) funding that was part of the December COVID-19 relief bill to the unaccompanied children (UAC) program, as well as $364 million in HHS funding that was passed as part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP), a congressional source told Fox News. Data shared with Fox News confirms that source's account.

I had covid last year and the fatigue is exactly like mono. Viruses suck all the energy right out of you. Hope for your continued recovery.

Funny, they aren’t rescuing Americans are they.

So does blood type
I’m wondering if they regularly include that statistic in reporting hospital statistics on death and just don’t correlate the statistics on death from covid and blood type.
I know there are organ donation regions that would have that information because all pts who die at the hospital are reported to the organ donation system that correlates with their region. They either accept the pt for donation or reject them, so they know all the relevant info.

I get all of that.
Throw the great unknown about the long term effects of COVID into the equation, and it gets even murkier.

I know a 20 year old college basketball player who had COVID a year ago who claims to have only about 50% of his former lung capacity. I know a "healthy" 45 year old football coach from my son's former school who says the same.

A healthy 42 year old resource officer from a local middle school died from COVID 2 days ago. I knew him well. He is not the first otherwise healthy person that I have known to die from COVID.

Luckily, most people are choosing the vaccine.
And I know elderly people (80+) with heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and other issues that were just fine after recovering from the virus and they didn’t have any major issues while sick. That is definitely one of the more puzzling things about this virus. You can take 2 people that, on the surface, seem about the same (age, height, weight, health, etc.) and they get 2 very different outcomes. I’m not sure we will ever know for sure what causes it to kill some healthy people and not others.

Boss, I'm not even sure where to begin looking for that information. My brain is fried and I'm trying to push through a workout. Once I get a steak and glass of red wine in me, I'll take a look later tonight.
No worries. I appreciate any direction you can offer.

1 of 3 things happened in India.

Lying about their numbers.
Perfected social distancing and mask wearing
Ivermectin kicked covid in the ass

You do realize that they’re back to 49000 cases and 650 dead a day in India don’t you? Nothing is over in India. As of yesterday the case load is as bad as ever.

So you are okay with people posting misinformation?
Just so everyone knows, the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338.
Your odds of dying from COVID-19 if you are an overweight, middle-aged man who did not get vaccinated, are about 3 in 100.
What's your middle age? And source?

There are less than 100k deaths in the 50 to 64 range which is the oldest and worst that could be considered middle aged.

I would say the 40 to 49 is more fitting for middle aged. And that is 20,000 dead.

COVID-19 deaths by age U.S. 2021 | Statista

There are 40 million people in that age group.

U.S. population by age and gender 2019 | Statista

73% are overweight, leaving 29 million

FastStats

So that 20k into 29 million is 1 out of 1,460 of that age group have died. No where close to your bs 3 in 100.

Now do the people who caught Covid in that category.

Having SARS-CoV-2 once confers much greater immunity than a vaccine—but no infection parties, please
Previous covid infection 27 times more effective at preventing another infection than the mrna vaccines. I believe they only used mRNA in Israel.

I’m not sure how there’s any relevant data in that comparison. Unless the argument is that people who had Covid don’t need the vaccine.
It’s an irrelevant comparison for those who have never had either the vaccine or Covid. If anything the vaccine as a therapeutic gets people through Covid to natural immunity in a safer fashion.

And I don’t give a **** that it’s not the original intended purpose of the vaccine. The point is to save lives which the vaccine clearly does any way you look at it.

Then there’s this from the article which suggests those who were once infected with Covid should still get the vaccine.

“researchers also found that people who had SARS-CoV-2 previously and then received one dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine were more highly protected against reinfection than those who once had the virus and were still unvaccinated. The new work could inform discussion of whether previously infected people need to receive both doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine or the similar mRNA vaccine from Moderna”
