Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Hi guys. I’m doing well. The fatigue reminds me of having mono, but otherwise I’m symptom-free. I’m grateful that I had access to the vaccine and to monoclonal antibody treatment - I feel like they both helped me fight this thing off.

We actually lost an employee at our organization to COVID-19 yesterday. She was just a year older than I am. It really hit home how blessed I am to have had a mild disease course. With my asthma and weight, the outcome could have been different.

So thanks for checking on me. I lurk more than I post here, so it made me smile to know my fellow Vols fans were thinking of me.
Really glad you got MAb with those risk factors. It's a damn shame that we aren't much more aggressive with it.

He didnt mention case fatality. He said if you were middle aged, over weight, and not vaxxed.

Total number of COVID-19 cases by age U.S. 2021 | Statista

But because I actually care about the data instead of bs talking points.

Total number of COVID-19 cases by age U.S. 2021 | Statista

4.4 million. Equals 1 in 220 dying. It would take a death rate 6 or 7 times worse to get anywhere close to his 3 in 100 crap.
He didn’t mention it. I asked after the fact because I was interested as I didn’t know the answer.
I know you pretty well in real life and was too lazy to do it myself. I don’t give a **** about the political reasons and the bull **** percentages. I am interested in raw numbers that actually tell the story. Thanks for posting.

Irrelevant? but you were making that exact argument the post before. For an even less number of dead.
If that’s where the conversation started then it would be relevant. My arguments will change based on context. The context was that the India problem had been solved by deworming meds. It hasn’t

I just really hate the bs that gets thrown around. Like the 7% mortality rate.

I had not seen the 7% thing.
Last night I did see where someone tweeted that CWD had jumped to humans in Colorado. It was quickly removed as it was actually a misdiagnosis. And that would be a huge problem had it been true.
Lots of incorrect information out there right now

Until a nation of 1 billion starts posting new cases in the 250k range and/or deaths in the 2k range, I'll consider the meds doing quite well.

You’re not paying attention. The reason for the spike could actually be that they have stopped the use of the medication in India.
At least you own your hackery. It was bad in February but ok now because you thought they were still using the med that fits your agenda

What is my agenda? To show that thinking outside the box and moving ahead with using already approved drugs is a route worth taking? Guilty as charged.

Thanks. I’m really proud that our health system was one of the first in SC to offer monoclonal antibody infusions, and we’ve treated a lot of people. We actually just expanded our infusion clinic hours to be able to treat even more.

One thing I’d like to say is what an appreciation I have for the nurses working in the monoclonal antibody clinic. When I was there, there were a half dozen other patients there at the same time. Some of the patients were visibly ill - high fever, cough, nausea, etc. Those nurses spend their entire workday in a room surrounded by COVID-positive patients, and they do it wearing just an N95, a gown and gloves as their line of defense.

I was just struck by their bravery and their compassion. Even as someone who works in health care (administrative, non-clinical) and who has lived this pandemic for 18 months, it’s still eye-opening to be in the patient’s shoes and see what these front-line heroes are doing for all of us.

MUSC?

You do see that they are herding the public towards one option? At least concede that point.
Who is they? Some in government? Because there are others in government doing the opposite. “They “ is hardly a consensus
I guess we’re looking from different points on the board.
There’s definitely a group that’s vaccine only and they’re every bit as wrong as the anti vaccine people. I’ve confronted them all n this very thread.

I’m not sure how there’s any relevant data in that comparison. Unless the argument is that people who had Covid don’t need the vaccine.
It’s an irrelevant comparison for those who have never had either the vaccine or Covid. If anything the vaccine as a therapeutic gets people through Covid to natural immunity in a safer fashion.

And I don’t give a **** that it’s not the original intended purpose of the vaccine. The point is to save lives which the vaccine clearly does any way you look at it.
It's very relevant for the multitudes of people who have had the virus but can only resume their normal lives if they show a vaccine card. I'm not saying go out and intentionally get it, but vaccines are just mimicking your body's natural response. There's no reason to treat those who got the jab as a higher class citizen. And there's always some amount of risk when you get any jab, even a safe one. Why risk it if you are already protected?

Also, there's many places on Earth who still don't have access to vaccines. They can have mine. I don't need it. It will do much better with them.

Literally the second sentence.

“Unless the argument is that people who had Covid don’t need the vaccine.”
