Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I didn't say that, you're conflating arguments. Do better.

Not conflated anything.

You state his policy decisions should take into account facts on the ground. Facts on the ground being hospitals are overwhelmed.

What policy decision was wrong. Still waiting.

Dont give me some nonsense about what some court did. What policy led to the overcrowded hospitals?

Oh I answered it fine. The statement on hospital staffing driving DeSantis policy decision was specific and stupid. You are now trying to extrapolate that out to a general case. And we can all see it.

You jumping up and down yelling "StUPid!" doesn't make your point more cogent.

You realize that, yes?

All facts, including (and especially) a health care systems inability to care properly for the public should be a factor in policy decisions.

I feel like you don't know when to stop being contrarian and stop foisting such ridiculous statements. I can tell you this, but its up to you to recognize it.

The statement I bolded and replied to was stupid/dumb/whatever you want. It isn’t my problem that hurts your feelings.

I didn't say a policy lead to this, you inferred it. I stated that DeSantis has "given the middle finger to any semblance of risk mitigation."

I then went on to respond that facts should be pivotal in policy. These were two separate statements to two separate points.

That you don't like the latest FU to the policy he DID try and implement to subvert medical advice is a you problem, I don't g.a.s. if you won't accept it.

Looks like you guys are more interested in conflating arguments or straight up misrepresenting them than to admit you've dun goofed.

Hurt my feelings? LOL

You seem to like shining a light on your bad takes after they've been pointed out as ridiculous. You missed and like @allvol123 have too much pride to admit you blew it.

And once again, dont include previously infected as a category for study.

I could just as easily conclude how stupid it was to lock down and limit Alpha infections, which then made more people susceptible to Delta.

I understand your argument about natural immunity, and certainly that should be an independent arm as well.

I posted an article from the New England Journal of Medicine regarding complications of Covid vs the complications of the Pfizer vaccine. Complications were significantly higher in the Covid group than the vaccinated group.

So, the point of these two studies is that you are significantly less likely to get Covid or serious Covid if vaccinated and that complications from getting Covid are statistically significantly worse than those of the vaccine.

Again, I’m not arguing a natural immunity protection, as I do believe that plays a huge role. What I am saying is that if you haven’t had it yet, current data would point you to get the vaccine.

What policy gave the middle finger to mitigation?

So... I've been keeping ya'll updated on my county's health system, anecdotally to the conversation.

SWFL and particularly Lee (Fort Myers) and Collier county (Naples) have been strugglin' to keep pace with what is the wildest of the wild west here in DeSantis' middle finger to any semblance of risk mitigation.

Lee Health using storage space and doubling patients up due to COVID-19 surge at 639 patients

We're in deep red country down here and the school system board just bucked DeSantis' mask "opt out" mandate. I'm sure some red hat Karen's will be Facebook outraged and threatening to recall the board post haste.

Well the good news is that statewide hospitalizations are trending down (down 10% compared to last 7 week average) - hopefully the trend continues

This is what the hospital where McMom works was told by some official organization (assume CDC).

I hope that trend continues.

Fortunately, more and more people are getting vaccinated.

Anyone know if stats of current hospitalizations for people with immunity from previous infection are kept along with those vaccinated?

So if every man, woman, and child in the U.S. were vaccinated would this whole thing be over? I mean no more variants to worry about, no more fear porn, no more masks…everything back to normal?

I have a hard time believing the press and drama queens would let this go, which is why I have a hard time agreeing with the arguments and posts from the vaxxers, maskers, and drama queens in this thread.

Prior COVID Infection Doesn't Guarantee Good Immunity: Study

"Many people, and many doctors, are assuming that any prior exposure to SARS-CoV-2 will confer immunity to reinfection. Based on this logic, some people with prior exposure don't think they need to get vaccinated. Or if they do get vaccinated, they think that they only need the first dose of the two-dose Pfizer/Moderna vaccines," McDade said in a university news release.

"Our study shows that prior exposure to SARS-CoV-2 does not guarantee a high level of antibodies, nor does it guarantee a robust antibody response to the first vaccine dose," he said. "For people who had mild or asymptomatic infections, their antibody response to vaccination is essentially the same as it is for people who have not been previously exposed."

I don’t know that it would go away immediately, but I think it would definitely help it run its course a lot sooner.
