A guy in our neighborhood went ahead with his plan to get a Moderna shot in addition to the two Pfizer shots he's already had. He's not old or immunocompromised, he just thinks this will protect him more. One of my wife's friends is a pharmacist and he stopped someone this week from getting their fourth shot. He said he's seeing more and more people trying to get a third shot that don't need it and they're lying about their vaccination status. This virus is exposing the miswired people around us like no other.

For me, that's why the maskerauders are like religious zealots. The mask is better than nothing. But it has become the black and white visual symbol of morality with respect to covid. You know what's also better than nothing? Distancing. Hand washing. Being back to back in crowded situations. Being outside in groups rather than inside in groups.
