Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I trust neither government nor big pharma, having been screwed over by both repeatedly

I do trust the specific individuals who have worked to save my leg and my life and with whom I have developed an ongoing relationship. This includes being prescribed medicine off-label (colchicine for gout, for example) and being subjected to novel and experimental medical procedures and products (I volunteered to be part of a test flight for Vash with Forrest General Hospital).

That is totally different than the quote I specifically highlighted.

I have serious doubts that hospitals that devote significant parts of their funding to research into new therapies would just sit on their hands and say "Yeah, we'll wait this one out." I have serious disbelief that my team of doctors would violate their medical ethics for the sake of some financial payoff or Government nod.

Or mainly "CC, Mayo Clinic, and Johns Hopkins"...

In general, you have an unhealthy trust in Big Pharma and government.

I don't know how anyone could vote for either trainwreck. The Dems platform is "We're not Republicans" and the Republican platform is "We're not Democrats."

I need something substantial to sink my teeth into.
In a sense, you are correct. But the tie breaker would be that one party wants to hold your hand and protect you and the other party won't hold your hand (as much) and thinks you need to protect yourself.

Meta-analyses based on 18 randomized controlled treatment trials of ivermectin in COVID-19 have found large, statistically significant reductions in mortality, time to clinical recovery, and time to viral clearance. Furthermore, results from numerous controlled prophylaxis trials report significantly reduced risks of contracting COVID-19 with the regular use of ivermectin. Finally, the many examples of ivermectin distribution campaigns leading to rapid population-wide decreases in morbidity and mortality indicate that an oral agent effective in all phases of COVID-19 has been identified.

Review of the Emerging Evidence Demonstrating the Efficacy... : American Journal of Therapeutics

This is a really bad paper. It has many problems.
1. Among the 3 RCTs referenced looking at prophylaxis, 1 have been retracted due to fraud and 1 actually has not been published or even in preprint. The remaining RCT was not peer-reviewed (strange because it has been out for sometime) and doesn’t even list important characteristics of a prophylaxis study including time from exposure to starting prophylaxis among other things that you would expect in such study.
2. In the meta-analysis looking at recovery, the 2 largest studies have been retracted (Comprising almost half of all the patients evaluated in this meta-analysis) and 1 doesn’t show benefit. At least 2 of the remaining 4 have not been peer-reviewed. The other two studies are so small don't know what conclusions can be drawn and both do a poor job of describing baseline characteristics of patients (i.e. how sick patients were who were prescribed ivermectin or placebo).
3. In the meta-analysis looking at mortality, of the 6 RCTs included 1 has been retracted and 3 had no benefit. Among the other 2 RCTs 1 is not peer-reviewed (strange since it has been out since 2020), and the other actually is not really a RCT.
There are many other issues with this paper such as bias, confounding therapies used in many of the trials, and many examples of the author citing the wrong reference. Don't have a beef against ivermectin and hope a study will arise that shows it is a great drug for covid but do have a beef with whoever wrote this paper. The authors are either very sloppy or intentionally misleading people.

Well, now, that explains a lot! You aren't really abnormal; you are just from MO.

That Rock doc is quite good. Cannot help but root for these guys.
Saw them live in like 1982.
They played the Brevard County fair about 10 ... 12 years ago or so. Stood in the infield of the baseball diamond and watched them play. Steve Walsh was still as high energy as when I saw them in the 70s and the rest were... well... awesome.

I grew up in a great time for music.

Ill just leave this here that if you take 500mg of glutathione 3x per day, you would have difficulty catching any variant of covid, even if you were swapping spit with a person dying in the hospital with it. Add some zinc and an ionosphere like quercetin {so your body can absorb the zinc} and you probably wont catch much of anything at all, no matter how old you are. Hydroxychloroquine btw is a zinc ionosphere but not as effective as quercetin and has other side effects.

Georgia city councilman urges fellow 'hard-headed conservatives' to take vaccine after COVID brush with death; Before getting seriously ill with COVID, Councilman Jim Sells of Grantville was skeptical of the vaccine.

Before he contracted the virus, self-proclaimed conservative Grantville councilman Jim Sells said he didn't trust health experts and was skeptical when it came to the vaccine. But then in late July, he tested positive for the virus.
Nearly two weeks later, he was admitted to the hospital with acute respiratory failure. He said he didn't think he would go home again.
"I prayed for recovery, and all my friends prayed, and the doctors and nurses worked on me. I said 'if you can recover from this, you have to change everything," Sells said. "This has to be a life-changer."
After spending 16 days there and seeing COVID kill three people he knew, the councilman vowed he would do all he could to combat misinformation about the vaccine and the virus.

So why is his anecdotal story any more valid than Joe Rogan's?

WTF were they treating him with? Didn't they have any horse dewormer available? He would have been out in 3-5 days...

He survived without the vaccine.
