In fairness, it is not automatically a bioweapon.

Gain of function can be quite helpful in learning about microscopic life and developing preventative measures to neutralize the eventual natural threat to humans.

Obviously, a bad actor can utilize gain of function to develop a bioweapon.

However, the crux of COVID-19 is that a gain of function research lab was systematically incompetent which resulted in the accidental release of a genetically modified virus. To make matters worse, that lab happened to be located in an authoritarian country hellbent on obscuring the truth to saving face. These two factors in synthesized an unnecessary and entirely preventable pandemic.

While I understand most people view this as a distinction without a difference due to the fact that incompetence + secrecy acted functionally as a bioweapon, I think the distinction is justified with respect to human existence. If the human race wants to survive long-term, we have to be mindful to keep all of our functional tools in our toolbox and not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

To use plate tectonics as a metaphor, SARS-CoV-2 was a mere tremor. The big one is coming, eventually. As the human race continues to urbanize, the threat only increases. Unfortunately, the metaphorical well of our two best current tools for fighting the eventual big one (preventative gain of function research and reactive mRNA vaccines/treatment) has been poisoned due to the incompetence of our trusted officials (politicians, media, pharmaceutical companies, scientific organizations, etc.). Furthermore, the COVID-19 tremor doesn't seem to have slowed down humanities' march towards obesity despite the overwhelming evidence of its serious comorbidity multifactor ramifications.

I agree with a lot of what you said. But, what leads you to believe that mRNA shots were a success or are one of our "best tools for fighting the eventual big one?"

Other than initially decreasing the risk for death in the compromised, they have not done anything else that was promised. And, there is still significant concern that they pose more risk than offer reward in the younger/healthy population.

Can anyone give me one example of where mRNA 'vaccines' made it out of animal trials without killing the majority of test subjects?

And it is going to take a lot to convince me that my stance on this **** is wrong. CV19 was designed to kill people and was intentionally released. The mRNA 'vaccines' were a happy (for them) coincidence.

According to the news, it was a racoon dog ... that makes it "special". Next it's going to be something more exotic like a fresh water, tiger striped orca ... only found in remote reaches of China. China is reaching, and they are lying. The more they try to look innocent the more you can be sure they are guilty. China has lied and existed in smiling deceit for centuries; they wouldn't even know how to be honest.

This is where I'm at. I think it is too much of a risk to release this intentionally and not be concerned about blowback on your own country.
