Really, you're gonna bring puns into this? That's a pretty seedy thing to do!

Dude you crack me up. My wife has told me several times:

"I don't care what nerdvol posts". I read her all your funny stuff.

One of these days we got to have a beer my friend.

I don't yards for the public anymore now when I'm at my church mowing people sometimes stop and ask me to come give a price on their yard.
I don't do it unless she is a hottie showing some skin and gaping those legs.
Then I might go look at it, the yard that is.

I now give them #'s to a good black friend of mine at work who I got started mowing.
He now has 52 yards a week he mows plus working here. Years ago I bought him his first used $300 Snapper. Now he got a high dollar Ex Mark.. He my buddy, been for 25 years

Now when I was mowing for the public I did not even unload my $14,000 Kubota unless it was at least a $75, and that was a small yard.

I am amazed by the amount of self-important smugness in this post.

Anyone know what one would expect to pay for landscaping service? I have 3 beds, no flowers just shrubs and I assume bushes. Two are around 15x4 and the other is around 10x10.

I am awful and keeping up with them and its gotten out of hand. At my old house I paid $500 to have have someone come in and clean up and get everything looking how it should before selling my home, but that was considerably larger than I have now.

I didn't know if that amount or close to it was the norm for landscape service.

Are you looking for a service or maintenance ?
Service is a one time deal. Get you back in "control" other is the same plus you never having to be worried about it again. Mulched 2 times a year, weeds contolled and a freshing up of mulch once or twice through the summer.

Probably maintenance then. I've looked at a couple sites, just from google, but they all seemed a little too high end for what I have.

This is pretty much where I'm at too. I mainly work in Oak Ridge and West Knoxville where I'm mowing 1/3 - 1/2 acre lots, and it's just me and one mower, so I don't have to charge outrageous amounts to still make pretty decent money.

Thanks for the nice feedback chatt, and you've got my contact info, so let me know if you ever need it done again. :hi:

I will be in touch for sure. My wife loved it. She said "I think it looks better than the guy that charged $75" so I will definitely be contacting you again.

Wow, I had to read that twice. My mind's eye saw that as: "I think he looks better than the guy that charged $75"

I need to get more rest.

All my yards are in deep west Knox or Lenoir City. I mow by myself as well, so, like you i can keep my prices a little lower. Looks like you got another customer.

Glad it worked out for everyone.

I'll just keep mowing mine. I can walk it in 50 minutes. My dad taught me years ago it was the cheapest therapy out there.

I'm debating starting my own business part-time for lawn service. The rates people are paying are outrageous. I know people talk about lot's between around .4 of acre, a 10 man team that's done in less than 1/2 hr with a decent mower.

Better be done in 15 mins or your losing money

I think the better question is why you'd spend 14k on a lawnmower. It cuts grass, it doesn't drive down the interstate.

14k is a middle of the line commercial mower

Mine were 22k each. Had 4 of them mowing 100+ acres a day

yep the 72" Diesel are higher than mine was.. Mowing is big money as it cost a lot of money to get in it. You can make a lot but you spend a lot.
