The 10 year gap is the current law which is horrendous. I know that here in Georgia and 16 year was arrested for having sex with a 14 year old. That is equally horrible.

From what it sounds like, a 24 year old with a 14 year old is still illegal, but it just won't necessarily lead to them being registered as a "sex offender". Which I disagree with, but they aren't legalizing pedophilia. Statutory rape laws are still in place. This is specifically about "sex offender" status of the accused/convicted.

I don’t care what other CA laws are on the books.

Judges already have discretion under state law to decide at sentencing whether to register an offender who has uncoerced vaginal sex with a teenage girl aged 14 to 17 within the 10-year age gap.

The idea should be to give judges the same discretion regardless of the sex of the people involved.

Aren't we routinely told in this very forum that HS boys having sex with female teachers is ok and is not abuse/rape? Why should homosexual high schoolers not get the same opportunities?

I guess I originally missed how this was about gay sex. I agree that the panlties shouldn't be more harsh for anal vs. vaginal, but they seem to be burying the lead with the legislation. The 10 year gap for "sex offender" status is what is mind boggling about the existing and new laws.

I don't think the bible is the place to plant your flag of morality when it comes to condemning sex with girls.

How old was Aisha when she consummated her "marriage" with Mohamed? How old was Mary? 12 -14 was the age when girls became "women" and were married off to be fruitful and multiply.

I'm not saying it's right, but you may want to pump the brakes a little using the good book as your moral backstop.
