Legit Question for the More Liberal on Here

I know as a conservative, I was suckered into voting for Bush in 2004, and never again will I fall for that again. If a liberal is truly a Liberal, so far Obama has been UNDERperforming. Remember to the Left it should ultimately be the responsibility of the Government to solve all of life's ills. I feel so frustrated because both parties are either cowardly and stupid or down right criminal and corrupt.

I feel you angst, however you can't possibly believe Kerry would have been a better president over the last four years can you??

Don't get me wrong, I think the Bush family are in reality Fabian Socialist in their world view, especially Bush I, but how can you think a vote for Kerry or Gore would have been any better??

What are your main problems with the last four years under the Bush administration?

It would be nice to have an option every election to vote "none of the above", and if that is the majority, then another election is held with different candidates.

“The difference between Democrats and Republicans is: Democrats have accepted some ideas of Socialism cheerfully, while Republicans have accepted them reluctantly”
Norman Thomas

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform."
Norman Mattoon Thomas, a six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America.

What people don't understand about 'socialism' is that it isn't about empowering the poor, although that ever unreachable carrot is always there, socialism is about giving ever more power to a select few who are believed to be the owners of a superior moral intellect who will dispense resources in a fair manner to everyone.

That supposition isn't true, has never been true and will never be true.

Ever since JFK was assassinated, for the most part I've written in Pat Paulsen and Foster Brooks.

I wrote in Micky Mouse and Mighty Mouse when Reagan and Carter were the candidates.

I was pleasantly surprised by Reagan though, I knew that Reagan was a disgruntled Democrat running on the Republican ticket, so I didn't expect much from him.

I applauded his action against Ghadafi in Libya but where we differed was when our Marine barracks and Embassy were bombed in Lebanon and our Beirut CIA station chief was abducted and hung and the video of that published.

What Reagan should have done was carpet bomb Hezbollah into extinction in Lebanon, drop a hot one down the chimney of Assad in Syria as he had done to Ghadafi in Libya, and destroy 3/4 of the palaces of the (Carter enabled) Mullahs of Iran.

That way we would be respected rather than be on the defensive today.

And with the current regime in Washington, anyone who really thinks they mean to defend American democracy and the free enterprise system is less than a moron, they make boxes of rocks look like people with off the chart level IQs.

I'm sorry, GS, I wasn't really trying to imply with that statement that I wish I would have voted for Kerry. By Jan 25th, 2005 our sovereignty would have been all but gone. That man had a hard on for the U.N. and would have stopped at nothing to lap up to them. That's why I don't regret voting for Bush.

The statement was really to show that there are intellectually honest conservatives out there who truly felt that W (especially in the abortion that is his second term), did more harm than good for the country. At best he was the lesser of the two Evils, but even still, the dude was bad.

What really chaps my posterior in all of this is these spineless weasels (AKA the Republican Party) have campaigned for the last 15 years on less government, stricter budgets, and lower taxes. Yet under these douche bags' watch our government has grown by 60%, the biggest entitlement programs in history have been signed into law, illegal immigration is approaching crisis levels while all politicians are buying their votes, and deficits have gone through the stratosphere. I was hoping in saying that, trying to see if those on the other side would feel inclined to voice any disappointment (if there is any) for President Obama. I guess I'm yearning for some decent dialogue between the people that really matter: US. Screw the crooks and weasels in Washington, I'm just hoping that one day the citizens can make this country better in spite of the morons in power.

And yes the none of the above option would be glorious. I would have excitedly used that this last election. I'll admit at the time of 2004 I voted for Bush with happiness, because I was more focused on making sure we won in Iraq and bought into the crock that was "compassionate conservatism."

I completely feel you here.

......(insert heavy sarcasm)......

...but...but...you don't understand. The government has grown for our own good, illegal immigration isn't near as bad as it would have been under a liberal government, and deficits are the result of unfortunate economic circumstances.

Government will always be an absolute failure no matter who is in control.

The key is to limit what the pieces of trash politicians can get their hands on.

We would be better off having dog dookie in the politicians seats in congress.

I agree completely with everything, this time without elaborating, for the sake of the attention span challenged among our midst.

Next up will be the LOST treaty and global domination for the powers that be, is my prediction.

But on the last day; "Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess, the Lord is God indeed."

Not my prediction, that is prophesy and it will be fulfilled.

You can make a strong case....

The banks across the world are collapsing and the Governments are taking them over like wild fire. Without heavy opposition to the redistributionist laden "environmental" policies the U.N. are using as a mask to make a power grab that would make it the only World Power. At the same time people are going through crisis after crisis, from war to economic catastrophe, they are desperate for someone to look to that will give them hope. Just look at the attention and adulation Obama is getting in this time, I can only imagine the real bad guy is going to look very similar and be even more charismatic. However, there have been times in the past the faithful probably thought the end was nigh, so I'm not cashing my chips in just yet. No this is not an Obama is the Antichrist hur hur, so don't take it that way. I do believe tho, that whoever the guy ends up being, he will use similar tactics, and be just as captivating.

You are absolutely right. The worship that was (and still is) given Obama is an incredible sight when viewed with biblical prophecy. I'd say that the anti-christ will have a familiar feel after watching this presidential cycle.

Sure -- I don't know one person in America that would be happy about a politician going back on their word or jamming something through because it would aid in getting it voted in -- but please don't act as though this is a surprise in any political realm (or either party). It's politics -- plain and simple.

However, I haven't quite used this one occurrence to be the marker of his presidency so I'm not willing to condemn him just yet.

A trillion dollar boondoggle followed by $75 billion in stupid homebuyer money, with only talk about actually addressing the banking situation. I'd say it's pretty much as bad as it can be.

After spending the past 20 minutes reading the previous 184 posts, I have arrived at some interesting conclusions:

1. Truefan and Savage. Start a thread where the two of you simply bicker at each other.

2. It seems most on the left are not satisfied with BHO. "Give it time". I have a curious feeling that "it's only been three weeks" is going to turn in to "it's only been two years".

3. The most enlightening dialogue occurs between TennTradition and BPV. This is true in most every thread. If someone simply wants to learn about any given topic, read the posts in which TennTradition and BPV are responding to each other.

I think even Rod Wilks would be impressed at that thread.

+1

TT and BPV are definitely among the dozen or so regular posters in the Politics Forum whose posts I consider worth more than just skimming. As a fellow scientist, I always find TT's scientific commentary enlightening.
