Les Miles fired....

Jimbo to LSU might even already be set to happen. Probably would've happened last winter, if not for politcal/budgetary situation. If they can keep Aranda too, that would be a very strong combination.

Theres no question about his passion, fire, and over all love for the game but is O a realistic long term for LSU?

I don't think so. He was absolutely dreadful at Ole Miss. I think he's a great defensive coach and recruiter, but if I were an LSU fan I wouldn't want him overseeing the entire team/being involved with the offense in any way.

Plus, I've always seen him as slimy because of his close association with Kiffin.

Miles's best LSU years were behind him, that was clear, so letting him go was understandable--but doing it midway through the season was disrespectful.

Miles was like Fulmer--a nice 10-year run, but then burnout and the law of diminishing returns kicks in. The Vol program was floundering under Fulmer the last few years and heading south quickly. The staff was mostly old. You don't want to wait another couple of years and risk the bottom falling out.

Maybe Orgeron rights the ship, but he's not going to beat bama with their offense. I think it's a given that the job will go to someone with offensive chops.

I think Lane is either at LSU or Auburn the writing is on the wall at Alabama unless im completely reading it wrong. With the hire of Sark it tells me that Saban is tired of Lane.

Youd know more than I.

:eek:hmy:
Please Auburn.

Orgeron was 10-25 (3-21) at Ole Miss.

He would be an awful hire.

The only reason I think so is because of a guy like coach O. He and Kififin know each other well and it wont be a complete over haul of the system that's in place. More importantly they get a QB guy who has a track record of developing QBs.

All that said why in the world would you want to get the band back together that put USCw on probation and by all intents and purposes had Tennessee headed down the same road.

If Malzahn is fired he gets a phone call. I don't think Malzahn gets the boot though. BUBear said earlier in the week that if he wins Briles would come in and hes already pipelining kids to AU. We'll see.

Watching the PF show yesterday a name was brought up that made me laugh a little bit.

James Franklin to LSU. There are people who are still hanging their hats on the work he did at Vandy. It was nice but what has he done since?

Another name that to me could do really well there considering what hes done now is Dan Mullen. If he can get kids to Miss State he could do a lot of good at LSU.

Again just throwing a name out there.

Mullen would be possible, but unlikely. Franklin is not going to happen.

I would not discount Fedora. He probably sees TX and TXA&M somewhat solidifying with their current coaches. He has already coached in the bayou area at USM and this is a much better option than Baylor.

LSU Job description:
1) LSU is searching for a coach to win every game, and make sure its a blowout. If you have Less than 10-11 wins a year, your fired. We expect wins over Nick Saban, Kevin Sumlin, Hugh Freeze, and Bret Bielema on an annual basis. This should be easy. A losing streak of any kind to any coaches will be a loss in contractual compensation.

2) LSU expects to win every recruit that is born in the state of Louisiana. This should be easy since Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss don't even try to recruit kids from this state.

3) Control and clean up the racist police department. Any Questions?

4) Louisiana is an amazing state to live in. The weather is spectacular, the people are normal, and it never rains or gives us any natural disasters. Who wouldn't want to settle down here and take over this program with a stellar 15 year history.

Tom Herman, Jimbo Fisher, and Others...

If I'm LSU I'm definitely calling the Stanford head coach. I think his body of work and the academic requirements to get into that school shows that he would be elite at a place like LSU.

I would also reach out to David Cutcliff, but I honestly doubt at his age he would want to start over.

LSU will wind up with damaged goods (Kiffin/Art Briles) or some guy who wins a bunch of games in the MAC this year.

A good portion of the LSU fanbase was warning that it wasn't a good hire for the Vols, not sure why or how Kiffin would work when LSU fans can't stand him. Skip Bertman even said Kiffin would be a bad hire, of course, he is no longer the AD. Art is going to be 61, seems unlikely to be honest and I don't like that kind of football.... so hopefully not.

My guess:

1. Jimbo 2. Herman 3. Coach 0 (if he basically runs the tables, not going to happen) 4. a completely unexpected hire at HC 5. hire a OC and make Aranda Hc

Both Miles and Saban were unexpected, Skip even said he thought Saban was a very high risk at the time he made the decision. I think there is plenty of time, no need to rush, although the sooner you get someone in there the better chance of holding the recruiting class together.

I am not saying you are wrong... hopefully you are though. For the record, I am all for small name depending on his history.... someone hired Herman, someone hired Jimbo... someone has to take a chance eventually.

The Big-12 Presidents meet again in mid Oct. A month ago, I was sure they would expand, now there is some doubt. If for some strange reason, they decide not to expand, then LSU needs to pull out all stops for Herman. He's not stupid - if Houston doesn't get in the Big-12, he needs to move on now. Waiting for a head coach opening at Texas or A&M is foolish. I think he would be perfect for LSU.

IF Kiffin has the ability to learn from his mistakes, which I assume he probably has, then he's probably done enough penance to deserve a shot if Fisher/Herman don't answer the call. An interesting possibility would be an Orgeron/Kiffin reunion as co-head coaches with Kiffin responsible for staff decisions and on the field stuff and Orgeron responsible for recruiting and PR.

Gotta watch the Ed O press conference being introduced.

A guy I know who has been in contact with someone pretty high up in the LSU athletic department has confirmed that AD Joe Alleva (in one of LSU's private jets) is presently enroute to California to interview CDD after the Cowboys play the 49ers.

Dooley has Louisiana coaching experience and has the Dooley pedigree. He comes highly recommended by Nick Saban and Will Muschamp. He was given a short stick at Tennessee, but still came pretty close to winning some big games there. He deserves another chance!

I would love for LSU to hire Doolittle!
